can someone suggest where i should begin with Mac Dre? greatly apreciated

Start from the last 3 years and then proceed to jump in your DeLorean back to his first three years. His catalog is deep and very consistent, much replay value especially if you're into eccentric examples of character in your lyrics. His catalog really separates between the eras, late-80's-to-early 90s, then late 90s and 2001-2004. 3 completely different styles

"Get Stupid" (2004)
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktE5Vyds7Iw[/ame]
"Genie of the Lamp" (2004)
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbiFPL-E85Y[/ame]
"Genie of the Lamp" (2003)
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLcQky5WD6M[/ame]
"Don't Hate the Playa Pt. 2" (2004)
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9s7oGEvueI[/ame]
"Thizzle Dance" (2002)
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhPUi_RbFwU[/ame]

Now

"Mac Dre Is the Name" (1989)
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6shr755rFs[/ame]

"On My Toes"
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWhCU7i2SAg[/ame]

"Young Playah"
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZWgOaMsi-g[/ame]

"I'm N Motion" (Recorded from prison . . this video includes a short intro)
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Ik4ZriweU[/ame]

Below I've listed some of his most notable songs, which you could call "Singles" as they did for his album what a single is intended to do

"California Livin'"
"2 Hard 4 the fukkin' Radio"
"Thizzle Dance" (2002)
"Grown Sh!t"/"Genie of the Lamp" (2003)
"Genie of the Lamp" (2004)
"Not My Job" (2004)
"Feelin' Myself" (2004)
"Get Stupid" (2004)

When it came to 2004, he was just ON . . he could've made anything sound good and he did. His intention was to break the record for most album releases in a year, he had plans to do Judge Dre Mathis, Thizzelle Washington 2, Al Boo Boo 2, Starters in the Game and Da US Open

I don't fukk with drugs anymore but I was thinking about going to the smoke shop to cop some nitrous cartridges and one of those apparatus's to open them up..

What if the bay started fukking with nitro like they do with lean and Molly's ...:deadrose: the new nitro craze..nikkas passing out falling to the concrete..

All the youth is messing with that nitro hard

That's mostly the old school classics but don't sleep on this second Best of disc, a lot of material that's hard to find but after the third one it's just a cash-grab from the people who are running Thizz now.

Thizz Mountain is awesome, I put my headphones on when I took my friend's daughter to Disneyland and experienced a Thizz trip. I was reckless though, actually took the back seat so I could light up a joint :pachaha:

First of all..Mac Dre isn't from Oakland although he claims he was born there..so just throw that assumption about me out the window..if you think teenagers hopping on top of AC transit bus roofs dancing(I've seen it with my own eyes) and grown men acting like 8 year old kids is bout it, then I'm clearly wrong..

"Hey guys lets just act fukking retarded cuz this HYPHY music is bumping"

That thizz shyt was a gimmick..they had some Arab dude rapping stereotyping his own Arab race..I'm sorry..I'm 33 and back then I was like 27 or 26..and even if I was 16 I wouldn't have done no type of stupid shyt like that..

But it's all for the fun right..lets just go dumb..if an outsider saw this looking in from their region we must of looked pretty bad..wouldn't you say

U maybe just bought into the hype of the word "hyphy" its nothin more than a description of exactly what nikkas had BEEN doin:heh:....nikkas like Short,40,bla,and Oaklands own richie rich had been talkin about sideshows,40 and B-la seen "goin dumb" in his car the beggining of the "Hope I Don't go Back" video in front of the world, cops tellin em to take it inside:laff:....bay nikkas gon "go stupid" wherever they are when they shyt start playin:obama:hyphy ain't no mid 2000's shyt.

All the surfin on cars shyt, ghostriding ain't sum shyt Dre just pulled out his azz, that's sideshow shyt Oakland is no stranger too and matter of fact I've heard is the most ignorant with the stunts:laff:...so I have no doubt u did see that shyt,Dre made that sit popular with the young generation again, but it wuz never dead....the media jumpin on the hyphy bandwagon and looking at it like :mindblown: cuz they never saw it just made folks do it more who may have never had a urge to do it before on sum "planking" "cinamon challenge" shyt and w/e shyt will be viral next month.....but u can't put that on Dre,he wuz talkin town business cuz he wuz actually out there in it,he wuz reppin for the young nikkas whereas the older acts left the younger generation voiceless bcuz unfortunatly sumbody who wuz actually a young nikka never stepped up to the plate....Dre filled that void,u can't put that on Dre simply for reppin town shyt, wuznt really made for outside consumption,so the fact it looked dumb to outsiders I'm sure he wuznt concerned with.

Far as this thread I don't know how I feel about that,id like to think cats is up on Mac Dre music and really fuk wit em but I question if sum of these dudes u hear soundin like him can name 3 of his albums....the luv he got from the bay and even the nikkas bitin em after he died I think is mostly sincere as far as them at least bein fans....but its hard to say if dudes that sound like him now are biting as fans of HIS or if they just got they style from the large numbers of nikkas they heard who actually did bite from Dre directly....for example its a lot of nikkas soundin like Too Short now,but how many of them are bitin from Too Short and how many are tryna sound like YG who's buzzin who bit Too Short?or if u hear nikkas out east on that melodic rap/hook singin shyt like 50cent,how many of them are biting 50cent,and how many are biting from Max B seemed to bite from 50....think we can agree the younger generation is biting from Max....in hiphop its a lot of biting that goes on out of ignorance, and the more nikkas don't get called out for it the less credit the dudes who are ORIGInALLy being bit from will get less and less credit as time goes on.

I dnt think its a conspiracy to hid Dre or the fact they bitin from Dre....I genuinly feel a lot of them either really didn't fuk wit him,and don't realize they are biting him bcuz the dude they bit from never properly credited Dre like they should have.....the way Yuk and them,The Realest wuz gettin at dudes for bitin Pac and callin them out like a decade after the fact, fans gotta just continue to do the same for Dre since he ain't here to flex on these nikkas, threads like this will be a good start if a more vocal presence ain't available:obama:...hopefully fans outside the bay of dre can keep the name out there, bein in kc now I never really have to explain that shyt,if u a legend in the bay u a god here pretty much....I think I'm spoiled to the fact its still a lot of people out there who don't know the name or the work.

Exactly, people are latching onto second hand influence. What I mean with this thread is, his behavior and way of being has been embedded into a high percentage of the Bay Area's younger generation as well as a lot of the mid-age people as well (25-40) Whether they know it or not, he's introjected into their consciousness. Don't get me wrong :whoa: Mac Dre is a product of the Bay Area (and maybe some mental marination in the federal penitentiary + maybe a couple good highs :whew:) but all of the environmental influence is literally personified through him He didn't come out of jail on some "I'm superman gangsta now" but more or less decided that it was his job to be the soundtrack to peoples fun times.

Them Lo Lifes...
im from here and hes right. we were banned from perferoming from our own summer jam because it used to get so fukking crazy, 40, dre, short were all banned because people would lose it.
Dont recall Mac Dre being on a summer jam line up:manny:

I recall 40 being able to perform and Short got banned from Kmel that year too for funking with C-Note.

Oakland shut down rap performances at the Henry J, because Pac sued for getting that azz whooping for jay walking..

Im not saying Mac Dre didnt have a impact, yet if all you can book him in is small performance venues that filled to capacity you will have a spill out crowd.

lol @ insurance firms having a anti-mack dre policy in their agreements. :deadrose:
