Got respect from me because he was first dismissed as a kid star by most of hip hop. He used that as fuel to improve. He worked his ass off and became a creative through and through.
To me his best piece of work was a mixtape called "Faces". It displayed a young man experiencing the manic highs and the deepest depths of addiction/depression, with a wittiness and self-awareness uncommon in today's hip hop. It's definitely a personal classic. RIP Mac
