i thought wiz and macklemore were both on indies

Macklemores Indie with major distribution similar to Tyler and OF. Wiz is signed to Atlantic, there's no comparison there.

Just because they have distribution, they're still handling the majority of ish in house, marketing, promotion, videos etc. They just outsource a key part of the process.

This song is dope though. I used to blindly hate duke like everybody else, but I've been feeling Miller's ish lately, even went back and copped Blue Slide Park off the strength. Looking forward to this album.

Wiz is Rostrum/Atlantic
Macklemore is basically Republic-Universal

Mac Miller is Rostrum/Universal

When a label like Rostrum is still being called "independent" that's a stretch . . that's like calling Justin Bieber/C. Rae Jepsen/PSY's label "School Boy Records" an independent

Even Riff-Raff, although he might be far off from a release date he's been signed to a development deal for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if he has absolutely no publishing and is signed to a 360 deal with MTV itself

If Lil B and Eminem's music had a child, and one of them was related to Madlib, it would sound like this. This is neither an insult nor a compliment.

I've always hated Mac Miller, but these last two songs I've heard have actually been nice.

(this one and )

I dunno what's happening to me, but maybe Mac isn't as bad as I thought :snoop:

I'm not saying its fake or not saying its wack, but it's pretty obvious. He's definitely changing his delivery (and also production often) in that direction...the smooth, almost slurred delivery + internal rhyme schemes etc

:what: or maybe cuz he's hanging around earl/action bronson/schoolboy q/vince staples/alchemist/flying lotus/ab-soul all day it's rubbing off

he's sounding like the nikkas he hangs around it's pretty obvious

That "Dylan" line sounded DOOM-influenced. His voice is still nails-on-a-chalkboard, but I can't get mad at his beat selection. Cool video, felt like an homage to the old Busta/Missy videos

Real talk I used to not be a fan either but he did his thang on that song with AB-Soul and this joint is cool as well.

I like it. You can tell he's been hanging around Earl with how he's spitting.
