just copped a refurbished 2012 non-retina mbp

threw a ssd in that bytch and ain't looked back, i've heard too much bad about the retinas as far as repairs / upgradeability

Got a quick macbook question. I got one thats 3 years old and is running pretty:flabbynsick: im not sure if its worth changing the hard drive and updating the ram vs going in on a new laptop. (Actually thinking of the surface pro :ehh:)

SSD ($65 for 240GB), ram upgrade (around $60-70 for 16GB) and get a caddy ($10) for your hard drive. You'll be set. I would definitely do the upgrade.

Meh, this aint for me, but I do see the value in this macbook for someone who is constantly on the go and needs a tiny, light laptop with a good battery especially if they have other mac products.

The value is in the portability. Not for me though.

I don't like the MacBook with the USB-c port only. U can't even charge it and plug in ur phone.

Plus it's underpowered. Battery life is piff in that however.
