I've been wanting to pick up The Book of Five Rings but I don't know which version to choose. I want the translation to be as close and faithful to the original material as possible, none of that bullshyt "for executives" spin or whatever.:birdman:

edit: As for Robert Greene's books, they're pretty cool(especially the stories), but I look at them as more of a quick reference guide than anything else. They contain some of the teachings of the greats, but diluted and summed up for easy reference. A cheat sheet basically. They're good to whet your appetite, but I would recommend reading the likes of Machiavelli, Baltasar Gracian or Francis Bacon for that raw shyt.:smugfavre:

I bet you speak proper too :mjpls:

The link I posted for the book of five rings is the best copy I've read. Thomas Cleary does a great job with the majority of his translations.

"Never cross a body of water to attack an enemy."

There are people walking around who understand human beings and possess the tools to manipulate them to ensure positive outcomes for themselves.

Books like the 48 laws of power provide great insight on these strategies. I'd recommend them for the sole reason of being able to recognize manipulation from others, and being able to utilize it yourself, should you decide to.

The 48 laws are corny.

The Prince is interesting and the Art of War is interesting as well.

However, the VAST majority of people are NOT leaders. The most anyone can get from those books is getting insight on how the show runners make their moves.
