They didn't know Revival wasn't gonna perform well. Revival was rumored to be a double album. For all we know, it might've been and Kamikaze is the other half of the double album.

This was already a rumored double album before any backlash came out. Eminem is the biggest artist on Interscope, it doesn't make sense that they would prepare for a flop. Em has gotten far worse backlash than dissing Trump. Eminem was picketed for bashing gays, targeted by feminist groups etc during the height of his career. Controversy helped him sell. He went after people more popular than Trump without his sells declining.
