this song isn't about you or for you..Whenever white people talk about this type of shyt...I mean, it would be like if someone pulled down my pants and told me that my balls smelled. LIKE I DON'T ALREADY KNOW?!?!?! THEY'RE MY BALLS!!!
Bruh he was telling everyone that he was benefiting from white privilege. he was basically saying his last album was successful BECAUSE of white people and how him being white helped.are you that cacclemore fan that had another name and all day and night was posting threads about him during the grammy episode.
i see you. you think you can hide under a different name??
cacclemore dont get it.
riddle me this, why did he name his shyt THE HEIST... but then have the nerve to use that word in a negative way on this song. what did he say?? "heist" the magic???
he accused others of that with that word and then had an album from years bakk called THAT WORD.
shut the fukk up. you dont even know what type white you are. africa is different than europe. you dont even know wtf you are in your veins. you have no identity
hes not trying to help black ppl....directly.The thing about this is that we've allowed whites to get off simply for acknowledging "white privilege". To me it's corny, because even the most racist of white people acknowledge their privilege. White supremacy within itself is acknowledges white privilege. It says that they are favored and entitled to whatever they want because of the color of their skin.
Acknowledging that the system works in their favor because they are white helps us how?
If he's going to address race relations in America, it'd more interesting to hear how he feels and what he plans to do to help rectify that. Economics and education are two of the greatest ways you can rectify that. I'm not saying write checks. I'm saying going into the communities and listening to ideas. After hearing the ideas, build an infrastructure that helps those ideas become reality. I'm not saying that we need Macklemore as some savior. I'm saying that if you really want to curve or even end white privilege, learn what it's like to move among people who aren't "privileged" and use your influence to better their situations.
Same points black rappers have been making for years. My point is that he's exploiting a platform that was created by black people in an effort to profit off of ourthis song isn't about you or for you..
you the same dudes that always complain that cacs are fukkin the devil and will never change.
Well this dude is actually trying to give the message that YES white privilege DOES exist TO WHITE PEOPLE!!
the same thing you militants constantly preach about...he's agreeing with you and telling white ppl to wake the fukk up.
deep down he's just another one of those hippy seattle dudes that wanna to just be happy and love everyone and wish everyone was happy.I hate Macklemore music in general, but I understand where he is coming from in this song. Makes me look at it from his perspective. At least he is aware of White Privilege and doesn't try to act like it doesn't exist
I enjoy any rap these days with a topic/message and even though I don't like Macklemore I can appreciate the song. Yeah dude panders alot to different groups with different agendas. But I genuinely thinks he respects and love hip hop more than half the black rappers in the game right now
then doesn't the actions of wealthy black Americans speak louder than words as well?keep falling for the wolf in sheep's clothing.
america will never get better. cacclemore isn't doing his part correctly. for him its about FAME.
and actions speak louder than words.
most of you as you get older will understand that
He's doing it on his platform because he's doing it to send that message TO white ppl.Same points black rappers have been making for years. My point is that he's exploiting a platform that was created by black people in an effort to profit off of our
issues in ways that a black rapper never could. He's talking about white privilege when it is because of his own white privilege that white people are even entertaining
his message. A white person is more likely to listen to another white person. So knowing this, why would he put himself at the forefront of a movement like this rather
than getting BEHIND black artists and helping them spread this message? It just all feels exploitative, and opportunistic.
I see how his message is different than an Elvis, or an Iggy Azelea in that he's acknowledging his white privilege, but I don't see how his actions are any different. He's doing it on his platform because he's doing it to send that message TO white ppl.
Hes spreading that message that FROM a white guy to white ppl that this problem exists.
White ppl have heard it from black ppl...and guess what? they don't seem to give a fukk.
So why not try a different approach?
