People do not hate on Macklemore tho. They hate on the fact that they are trying to put him together with real hip hop, giving him grammys for best hip hop and shyt. Who decided his album was the best of 2013? It was clearly some mainstreem whitewashed bullshyt and it should not classified as hip hop. Maybe a wack as sub genre of hip hop
Iggy is another story.

Truth be told, Macklemore just took the 2000s Indie-Rap/Backpack style of rap and added a pop sense to it. Compare him to those Eydea/Definitive Jux style of MCs and you'll see. It's still Hip-Hop, but another type.

One would argue that if those other white mcs are better then why didn't sell anything. You can't say it's because Macklemore was on a major like interscope because he was completely independent

"Better" is a broad term; selling music is about appeal. The emcees I was thinking of when I typed that are much more hardcore, underground sound type cats. Macklemore (especially with Ryan Lewis' production) had a much more clean, palatable soundscape for the mainstream. For me....
