Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Macklemore says that Eminem benefits from White privilege.
“He’s a White person who raps,” Macklemore says during an interview with Billboard. "I think regardless of where you come from or how amazing you are, you’re still a White person appropriating a Black art form.”
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' new This Unruly Mess I’ve Made album features the song “White Privilege II,” in which Macklemore raps, “The culture was never yours to make better -- you’re Miley, you’re Elvis, you’re Iggy Azalea.”
Although he intended that line to mean that he was part of that group of White artists, listeners may not taken it that way.
“I don’t think people understood that I’m in my own head [saying], ‘You’re Miley. You’re Elvis. You’re Iggy Azalea,’” Macklemore says. "I’m talking about myself."
Iggy Azalea took offense to the comment, but Macklemore says he hasn’t talked to her since she tweeted that, “he shouldnt have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings."
I never got this argument about em. How many hundreds of white rappers have we had. From third base to beastie boys to snow to Paul wall to mgk

Now how many had em's success?? None

considering Em himself has already addressed this, what's the point?
He has a whole record dedicated to it called White America.

If I was black, I would've sold half/I ain't have to graduate from Lincoln High School to know that...

He should have just kept making hits and stuck with that company that got him radioplay

all that old school pandering and this white priviledge stuff is stupid....

You've made it, now milk it for all it's worth.......who gives a fukk what German Cole thinks about you being a culture vulture

Unless this a ploy to bait Eminem into a diss track....

Eh. If this was "Nail In The Coffin" era Em then yeah i'd be cheering for him to kill him but now I don't think that Em has the same fire to make a great diss track again.

Eminem realized early on in his career that his fans werent into hip-hop the way he is himself.

Eminem is the epitome of a hip-hop stan. After years of trying to be down with an authentic love for the culture, he would stand on stage in front of thousands of people who didn't give a F about Duck Down, Rawkus Records or even hip-hop in general.

Watch Art of Rap and tell me Eminem aint a real hip-hop fan.

I think thats what caused a lot of the drug use..etc. when he realized the majority of the people (white) in his fanbase werent credible enough to give him the props he always wanted. They said he was their favorite rapper and it fukked Em up when he found out he was the only rapper they listed to. Im sure he eventually felt like a product to be sold to white people.

Rather then all this pandering, if dude wanted to show he was genuine he would donate a decent percentage of his earnings from a black art form back into black communities and businesses. At least that way he can say even though he's profiting from appropriating black art form, he's still putting back into that community

sorry, i cant agree that rap is black music.

thats like saying hip hop is appropriating japanese culture since they are the ones who made the 808 drum machines and samplers and sounds that helped build hip hop.

and that half the music sampled in hip hop comes from white people. like bob james or deodato. so a lot of hip hop is white melodies and sounds, with japanese drum beats, and then black rapping.

music has a color, its not black and white. music is more like a lightshow of purple and yellow.
