Career, success wise. Anyone else feels this way? I'm not saying lupe is a bum, he's been pretty successful as a hip-hop artist, just not what he should have been capable imo. The whole lazers fallout really crippled his image somewhat then Kendrick completely overshadowed dude. Now he's just kinda in limbo. He had sparks of it early in his career with superstar and again with the show goes on, but I don't think he had that real big hit the likes of thrift shop. I don't think he could have gotten away with a song like thrift shop even if he wanted. I feel he could have been that big mainstream dude if he never passed up nothing on you.

1. These "_____ is what _______ should have..." threads have got to stop. And this thread perfectly illustrates why. You don't even show how he compares to Macklemore.
   
2. Lupe drives Lambos and Ferraris and has like 2 clothing lines...he ain't at the thrift shop

It was worth making ya'll Let's be honest, lupe tried the macklemore route and we got Laserz in the process. Macklemore is basically a white better attempt at Lupe's laserz. Mac managed to be both a preachy "conscious" cat and "mainstream pop" act something Lupe intended to be in his career.

And even though lasers was mediocre and probably his worst album musically That shyt was his biggest debut and it was #1 on the billboard charts. (Not #1 on the hip hop charts but #1 among all genres of music)

As far as Macklemore, he is white and white dudes will always have a broader fan base esp. in hip hop.

He made money off Lasers....a ton. Those singles got heavy rotation even on non-hip hop stations.
