Mad Men: Season 7 (Part 2) 'The End of an Era' - April 5th

Teddy told Don a few episodes ago that there are three women in every man's life.

Don called Sally, Betty and Peggy

I loved the phone call to Peggy ... I always most intrigued by their relationship most on the show, and it felt fitting that is who Don would call at his lowest point.

I loved the Stan/Peggy angle too, I've been waiting on that for years. It kind of blindsided when it happened, always something I rooted for. The signs were there though, with Stan clearly not taking his girlfriend seriously, and Peggy not being able to connect with any man outside of work, she just never opened herself up to it, but Stan was able to see her true beauty working alongside her in the office, where she shines brightest. He was definitely trying to make her jealous earlier in the season with that older chick too. That scene could have fallen flat on its face, but both actors absolutely knocked it out of the park, especially Peggy.

Fitting ends for Joan & Roger as well. Joan is moving on to running her own shyt, and staying close to her child. Roger finally finds his match in Marie. Pete gets to keep his W as well ...

Watching Sally doing the dishes(and cooking for her brother) while Betty smokes away ... Sally done grown up

Very happy endings all around ... and last but not least Don

That scene with Betty

He gets his happy ending finally too, seemingly being able to clear his mind of his baggage and going back to conquer his world like only he can.

I'd say a good, perhaps not great finale for one of the greatest shows of all time.

Im sorry wire but mad men just dethroned you.

I geniunely teared up twice in the finale.

Tuning into the start of a new season of mad men was like seeing a lifelong friend for the first time in a year. You instantly connected and felt you never left.

Even characters you didn't like you were happy to see do well. Because they weren't one dimensional plot devices. They were fully formed people with a million complexities. You felt their struggle and their pain.

The acting between hamm and jones for a simple line "birdie" was profound. They conveyed the entire life of their mistakes in their faces. It brought a tear to my eye because we the audience have been there with for everything.

Don finally breaking down his last wall as he listened to the invisible speech. Don, a man with the gift of speech, who could make an electronic device resonate with anyone emotionally. He could never articulate the emptiness he felt inside. Watching his head perk up during the mans speech was like one of his many clients reacting to his pitches. In that moment he knew he wasn't alone and he just let go of his pain. He cried and I cried too. Because 7 seasons with this man it was an emotional relief to see him not have an outburst at a momdnt of weakness, but truly let go.


10/10.

Those phone calls the best parts of the show were those phone calls, person to person. Each actor killed those scenes and Jon Hamm for his performance in this finale, sublime. The Don/Betty and Don/Peggy phone calls even got me the second time round


Peggy is on her way to becoming the female Don. "Someday people will brag about working with you" said Pete Look at the way she shytted on Lorraine too, season 1 Peggy wouldn't have done that at all. Stan was right though telling her theres more to life than work. We've barely ever seen her social life and whenever we have, she's shut it down immediately. She might be finally happy now.



Joan Snow White. She's doing her thing though, Richard was never going to last


Don midway through my first watch I wasn't down with Don just letting his kids be but he respected Betty's wishes and this is the new start he wanted. That final seminar the guy handed Don the Coke idea on a plate without even knowing it but Don also related to what he was saying.



"Advertising is based on one thing: happiness. And do you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It's freedom from fear. It's a billboard on the side of a road that screams with reassurance that whatever you're doing is OK. You are OK." - Don, S01E01




Last but not least, Roger fukking Sterling. One-liner king. Pig latin, the suitcase line, Megan Draper's mother Brought some much needed comedy relief to what can be an intense show.

Good ending overall, but I wish they woulda went a little deeper in the end. But I really can't complain, it's still a 8.5/9 out of 10 finale.

Kinda surprised people like Sepinwall weren't into the ending and read it as Don going back to his usual self and just using the experience for an ad. That's a valid interpretation and it may very well be what it was, but not appreciating Don being able to let go of dikk Whitman's demons the last 2 episodes is kinda shocking imo. As someone already said, Don was about to commit that before he went to that seminar and embraced the "invisible man"

Roger was comedy to the end. Him speaking French and telling the waiter that he wanted champagne for his mom.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the finale, only cause I set myself up for something much bigger. I wanted the show to go out with a bang and of course it didn't. It was just another really good episode of Mad Men. Not the best episode, not the worst episode. I didn't expect the "put a bow on it" ending that everyone major got but it was cool. It's still 1b to the Wire to me but I'm not mad at anyone who says this is the GOAT show. Gonna miss the hell out of this show, but unlike Breaking Bad, this show has crazy replay value and I can't wait to run through this series again and again.

Last week's ep was the best IMO. To literally see Don wash away those past demons in Korea speaking to those vets was just
