I actually thought my dude Eric G from The Soul Council (9th Wonder/Jamla's in house production team) chopped up that ZZ Hill sample pretty dope. Not as dope as Madlib, obviously. Here's the song and then the beat. It's more stiff but i like the song. Act proof raps well on there.

^^^^most people are reactionary and have little working context regarding these 2 extraordinary producers. Checks & balances. But all in all i truly believe Madlib is a tad better. Maybe 2 tads even.
Not trying to derail your thread, but what do you think about my Dilla/Madlib opinion?

Alc and lib are trash on the beats to me...wouldn't rap over them if they paid me..maybe I would if they gave me a good offer..at this point I'll take $100 ..but nothing below that..I don't need their beats fukking up my creative flow

That beat is heavily inspired by the Madlib beat in the first place though.

I can say with certainty that Dilla & Madlib were the 2 standouts in the late 90s and very much equals. Alchemist reminds me of Hi Tek. They were the technical marvels and the flip to the Jaylib coin. Obviously Hi Tek has some catching up to do.

I think Hi-Tek was a little bit on that Dilla steez for Reflection Eternal Train of Thought as well.

:whoa: Now Alchemist has been on fire the last 5 years with his collabo projects but lets not act like Madlib hasnt produced some classics and wasnt ahead of the game. Alchemist had me like :ahh: when I heard this but then I found out Madlib flipped the same sample the same way years before alchemist flipped it

Oh, 100% man. Without Fancy Clown that shyt wouldn't exist. They had Tyler Woods re sing the sample even. I wasn't trying to argue with you at all. That whole album Madlib blacked THE fukk out on.

To be honest I like this flip better than the Eric G remake of "Fancy Clown". Same sample. Different flip.
