Mafia II has better shooting and cover mechanics than any GTA game thus far.

The Story was also better than GTA4


Graphics also.

The only thing GTA4 has on Mafia II is the fact that it's a better open world where you can do a bunch of random shyt all day (Which stopped being cool to me after San Andreas/PS2 days...Whenever I play a GTA game nowadays I just stick to the missions)

Having an open world was when GTA3 first dropped but its overrated now, just give me some dope missions and a good story and I'm good

The way you start both games was really well done. Mafia 2 walking around the old neighborhood and GT4 coming straight off the boat to meet your cousin.

I bought Mafia 2 cheap last year out of boredom. Easily one of my better blind purchases.

I love how yall act like you had a lot of shyt to do in GTAIV...Yall must be thinking of the OG GTA's that actually had shyt to do...All they gave us to do in IV was man dates in a dead NY city...

If it wasn't for PC mods I would never touch IV...

That said...

I was a huge fan of Mafia LH...To this day it is still my favorite open world game...I know the console version was straight trash but that game on PC was a certified classic...The story, city, characters, gameplay and atmosphere were all on point...

I waited patiently for 8 years for Mafia 2 and was severely disappointed...2K games completely butchered that game...Instead of building upon the gem that was Mafia they removed features the og even had like real car damage, shooting from your vehicle and melee weapons...Empire Bay felt like it was half the size of Lost Heaven...

The biggest disappointment was the story though...It was complete trash compared to the og and I'm mad my man Tommy made an appearance in that bullshyt...I knew it was going to be bad when the original writer bounced before the game was finished and shyt on THQ for their design decisions...It was supposed to have multiple paths with different endings and side missions (which we later found out they removed to sell to us later in the form of Jimmy's DLC) but instead we got some boring man love trash...

Bottom line both games were disappointing as fukk but if I had to choose I'd roll with Luis and TBOGT...

Fukk all those childish side missions. If i want to go bowling i have an app on my Ipad and an actual bowling alley i can go to. Fukk does it have to do with the narrative anyway? Imagine if the godfather movie did that. instead of intercuting scenes of murder during the ceremony you have scene of nikkas playing darts n shyt.

Mafia II is a hidden gem. Bought it a few months after it came out for $10 at Big Lots. It was good. Great story with nice characters. You weren't a superman for most of the game. You got to knock nikkas in jail and when you finally got out the world had changed. I liked it way more than most of GTA IV.I would love a Mafia III.

the story was the realist shyt game wise... open world game wise... maybe the new assassin creed... i like how you go from father, to boy, to teen to man.


but this... being a nobody... to getting knocked... a jailhouse time period (wishing for that in gta FOREVER)... then getting out, its years later, different buildings, clothes and cars now... then you rise up.. the story actually changes the city.. the years change.. the seasons change


now i don't put it on the level of gta: SA (4 was a step back)......... but gta could definitely steal some shyt.. i'd love to see the cops not react to shyt unless they are there, or called... i'd like to see out of sight, can't just "know" where you are... i'd LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to see you get arrested, and have to do some jail shyt.. bring back the fighting styles and working out and shyt... and make time a factor.. get older.. or at least change up the seasons or cars or something to show age
