Mafia 4 at one point was originally in pre production and was suppose to be set in 70’s Las Vegas and it was going to be heavily inspired by Martin Scorsese’s Casino movie. The game was scrapped in 2018 before it even went into development because Hangar 13 wanted to create a new IP (which ended up getting scrapped as well).

To me, it seems like Take Two is testing the waters with Old Country to see if a demand for future Mafia games is high. If Old Country sells well then they will definitely greenlit Mafia 4.

Contrary to popular belief Mafia 3 was NOT a flop at all. The game was a commercial success and is currently the highest selling game within the series so the demand for a Vegas themed Mafia was definitely high and it’s a shame that Hangar 13 didn’t understood that. :francis:

Mafia: The Old Country will have an approximate length of 10.5 hours, while the game will take around 13 hours to complete when factoring in all the side quests.:patrice:

Day 1 cop. I figure I give it a chance after the last one that was dropped. Mafia is not a bad series at all. I think the last game had a very good story but the repetitive gameplay is what plagued it.

After this release the developers are going to have to move on from the 1900 - 1950/60's time period of Mafia games. This series is just about stale.

The Mafia series could learn a few things from GTA/Rockstar.
