The central bank(Federal Reserve) isn't controlled by us. It has a massive ability to affect the economy and it's an independent, unelected and unaccountable body who makes decisions based on the priorities of the largest capital holders(banks, corporations).Politics heavily in recent decades are all about wish-fulfilment. One single cause issues etc. Instead of the whole circle. It doesn't help politicians know the public are fukking stupid so they'll lie to get into power, which increases the chances of pieces of shyt getting power.
People don't read into policies or what the politician is saying. It's all vibes, what they THINK he's saying and then they vote.
It's only way to explain the full retardation in last 30+ years. Nothing is stuck in cold hard reality everyone is dreaming.
Legislation that could make a tangible difference in people's lives(higher minimum wage, anti-wage theft legislation, higher taxes on the biggest capital owners, nationalization of certain companies(e.g. Amazon) would be dead in the water because it would require politicians from both parties to betray their donors. Their donors are the ones who decide how much you get paid, what real estate prices are, whether you can get a loan to go to school, whether you get a pension(if you've got a 401k instead of a government pension or pension from your employer) etc.
A lot of the power that the government once had has been given up to finance and it needs to be taken back, but in order for that to happen there needs to be a movement which is focused specifically on taking that power back from unaccountable banks and corporations and back into government and with accountability mechanisms making sure politicians can be punished by voters if they don't show any actual efforts to enact the agenda they were elected to enact.
