I lived in NYC for years, and the only time I saw a confederate flag...was on Kanye West merch in 2013.
But best believe these cacs ain't bringing that type of energy to east new york, crown heights, flatbush, canarsie, etc...

No one has dared to try me yet, but I won't be shocked when they do eventually. It's only been about two years.

South Brooklyn is full of old school CACs that look like they were extras in the Godfather moves and Casino
The only places that are really gentrified are Park Slope, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Downtown Brooklyn, and Red Hook

From Brighton Beach clockwise all the way around to Astoria has been like that for the longest. The liberal/hipster gentrification wave is a much more recent thing by comparison.

Bushwick is hella gentrified too.
Bed Stuy is gentrified but not as bad as Bushwick.
