Richard Willis Mitchell Jr., 62, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, is facing criminal charges in connection with an alleged assault at the Hanover Eagles fraternal club on January 10, 2026. He and his partner, Sara Tresnak, 51, of York, are charged with
misdemeanor ethnic intimidation, along with summary offenses of disorderly conduct and harassment. According to police affidavits, the incident began when Mitchell and Tresnak questioned a non-white woman from Baltimore about her ethnicity. After she revealed her mixed heritage—her father Black and Puerto Rican, her mother Italian—Mitchell allegedly told her, “Hanover is a redneck town,” and that she “wasn’t going to make it here.” The confrontation escalated into a physical assault, during which Mitchell reportedly grabbed the woman by the neck and forced her to the ground, while Tresnak allegedly beat her. Witnesses corroborated the victim’s account, and during the attack, the couple used racial slurs, including the N-word, and shouted, “This is a MAGA town” and “Go back to pig town.” The victim sustained multiple bruises, scrapes, and abrasions. Mitchell and Tresnak admitted to being involved in the altercation but claimed the victim attacked them first. Both are scheduled to appear before District Judge Jeffrey Sneeringer for a preliminary hearing on
February 17, 2026.
