IMO this statement is driven by two things: his desire to lessen his suspension by providing justification, and his desire to lessen his suspension by showing penitence. The second undermines the first, and makes it read passive-aggressive TBH.

Seems like he was just being open and honest about what happened and now someone leaked it to make him look bad.

There's really no reason any of this should be public.

Agreed. But maybe something held him back for some reason. Regardless, I don't think it will end well for him in the court of public opinion. You already know white folk gonna say he lying and of course we have a large section of black folk who will always side with that type of thought (see Stephen A, Whitlock, Wiley).

To Wiley's credit, he actually took the opposing side of that stance to a degree. Didn't say he was telling the truth, but didn't say he was lying. Dude looked like he wanted to put hands on Whitlock at one point.

Because the NFL is just a corporation. And a corporation is just a group of individuals. All it takes is one person to say, "Nah, this is some bullshyt" and it'll be leaked.

Also, everyone who was knocking Garrett for waiting looks really stupid now. He didn't wait. It'll be funny this weak to see how the Trum..I mean Rudolph supporters contort themselves to say that Garrett is lying. Rudolph should be thanking his lucky stars that there is no audio. And the NFL is a joke for not having audio. Don't be surprised if sometime next offseason the truth comes out and we learn that the NFL destroyed the audio or engaged in a cover-up.

It's one way and they automatically turn off like 5 seconds before the ball is snapped.

Crazy thing is, is that garret was mic'd up the previous week. A simple change in schedule and every word spoken around him would have been caught

No browns players were around Garrett at all and Rudolph and two white linemen were the only steelers players around also. Unless those linemen come out and say something later on and since there is no audio.
