A technicality I wanted to correct, everyone that leaves the armed forces is discharged, there are just different types of discharge. For example, my dad left on his own accord with no problems and was thus honorably discharged. There are other forms of non-punitive discharges that fall under the category of administrative discharge.

Orton got a bad conduct discharge, which is one of the two punitive forms of discharge. The other of those two is dishonorable discharge. Dishonorable is for the most severe of criminal offenses like murder, sexual assault, treason, etc, and is legally treated like a felony conviction when they become a civilian.
