Said fukk it and copped a ticket for tonight as well.

I really wished they dropped the movie later in the fall but I get it.

I don’t think there’s an actor that will put on a better performance this year than he did. Bar none.

I’ll come back to edit this later cuz I just left the movie but he is the definition of a male thespian. Every single scene he committed to the character he was playing, absolutely masterful. I’m still processing what I just watched.

Undeniably fantastic performance by Majors. He channels the desire, ambition and dangerously obsessive traits of an aspiring bodybuilder who clearly is fighting some inner demons that causing him to be who he is. It can be uncomfortable to watch him just try and communicate with other people. He does a lot of heavy lifting (no pun intended) to carry this. Not every theme touched upon in this works but Majors is just so captivating to watch. A true powerhouse performance that I haven't seen in years. And I watch a lot of movies brehs, I do. There's a mix of Taxi Driver, Joker, Whiplash, and especially Eminem's Stan in this.

Separating the artist from the art for this will be tricky, especially with the recent audio that released. I won't be surprised if this doesn't have the biggest box office numbers but the Oscars can't ignore the performance. They just can't.

Not what I expected. I feel like Majors was also playing himself at times. Such a layered movie.

I was yelling at the screen every 10 mins

Movie was a 9/10. The tension in that third act where I was literally sitting there wondering if this scene was going to be what finally caused him to snap lol. But Majors did a phenomenal job! Had the chick I was with getting teary eyed and feeling bad for breh lol

Movie was solid. Felt like it could’ve ended at four different points, but I didn’t mind because Majors puts on what would’ve been, at the minimum, an Oscar nominated performance.

Need the clips of him throwing them onion rings at that family :russ:

7.5/10

Majors single handily took this from a 5/6 to a 7/8.

The story is just okay, it should’ve been 30 minutes cut, there are scenes that just…move on without a real flow & it becomes very noticeable towards the second half, but the star of the movie is not the script.

Jonathan carried this like Daniel Day Lewis in his prime.

I really need yall to understand this is the best acting you will see since Leo in The Revenant & JK Simmons in Whiplash.

Fam acted like he had a year of rent to pay off. He’s probably gonna be punished for a while from the awards community as well as Hollywood but this easily would’ve won the Oscar for Best Actor.

Easily.

Every scene is relentless in how he commits solely to the character and it only ratchets up in intensity the more the film progresses.

There’s four scenes that stick out like a sore thumb.

-The dinner date with the white girl
-The grocery store where he has a conversation with the white girl
-The diner where he has a confrontation
-The hardware store and him getting ready to go there.

These scenes highlight the different aspects of his character and how Majors was able to present it.

There’s actors that show good performances and you’re intrigued by their potential.

There’s actors that show great performances and you root for their continued success.

Then there’s Jonathan Majors.
