Of course he got the job because he's Magic fukkin Johnson. We all know this and we can just leave it at that. His business acumen speaks for itself and he's arguably the greatest player in our franchise's history. He absofukkinlutely deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Exactly this the NBA ex players always get gigs in management. Plus technically magic has actually done his work because since retirement he has been involved with the NBA in some compacity.

Also on the magic losing his job as a lakers coach. Remember he was a part time owner and Buss asked him to coach the team. Magic did it for the 16 games or whatever then resigned because he said he could not take the losing and the team was too young. Basically magic like many great players had issues coaching players especially avg players (they often times can't relate to them).

Last anyone and I mean anyone who has followed the NBA for years knows that teams especially when they rebuild bring in players from their past glory years to help run the team. Or get the team back on track......IE vlade in Sac or Dumars in Detroit or Ainge / Bird in Boston or BJ Armstrong / Paxson in Chicago or West in LA and on and on and on and on.

This is just a way to artificially inflate the conversation. Magic has a unique resume, but not much experience in the league front office, I don't know how great or bad of a job he'll do. But I understand he is a god in the NBA and amongst Lakers fans, he clearly loves the team and he has a good basketball mind, so it couldn't hurt.

Probably, he gets on his hating tip pretty often on the show, just talkin shyt. I'm not sayin he's right or anything, I just think you were takin it way outta context and too far saying "cacs like him aren't cool with blacks like him in positions". He's is on record shytting on the Rooney rule and lack of black execs and coaches etc.
