I really don't understand why they bring this back at least on a small level. 1-2 games a month. If marketed, pitched correctly it couldn't fail. Schools are ok with this BS matchups they show on ESPNU on Thursday's, which make our schools look terrible. We gotta pitch our best product, a random Savannah St vs Morgan St basketball game in January won't draw like marquee matchups. Put an Aggie-Eagle classic on ESPNU or a CIAA Football Championship game. Those games fill stadiums to the brim
ehh. BET used to run the commercials hyping up their saturday night hbcu games. im sure the ratings were horrible.
lesbianest, how many of us were really watching those BET games like that? i guarantee most sports fans that view BET were watching the games on abc/espn/etc instead. and that just leaves the BET viewers that arent interested in watching football period.
only way i can see this pop off on any channel is if they have the game of the week on a tuesday or wednesday night when theres barely any other football on. that would also draw in some thirsty football fans who dont even watch those stations. if done right, they could draw ratings from rednecks as well. then, they can build from there. but putting these games on when theres a handful of bigger games on other stations is never gonna work..............unless top black recruits actually start attending black institiutions again. but thats just wishful thinking at this point.
they rarely even show games at 1 o'clock on saturdays, which is the best time to do it if you must show games on saturday.
