The South has dominated the scene for so long now, a whole generation has grown up on TI, Wayne, etc. How the fukk is ASAP Rocky supposed to make a "New York sounding" album? I don't really like Ebro, but he addressed this "NY sound" thing in this interview.. he said that some og NY mc's said this "NY sound" shyt needs to stop and elaborated on it and said some pretty interesting stuff regarding that around the 4:45 mark

Just make some danceable commercial club shyt...ny ate off that in the early 2000s why not today? its not complicated. songs like beamers benz bentley or start it up are ny sounding tracks that came out a couple years back and had the clubs...girls all over the country think ny dudes are fly anyway, just cash in on that and make songs for the girls. it aint that deep. say what u want about murder inc and that whole era, but they made FUN records. when nyc started grandstanding and hating the south for having fun thats when we fell off. these dweebs wanna bring the 90s back and sound like black moon but black moon lived in a more dangerous, dirty city. get on that fly shyt and watch ny 'come back' in record time.

brehs, lets just admit it everyone is tryna make southern-esque music for the radio. The only diff. between NY and other places is that they never made their own updated sound.(except for A$ap mob)

Ratchet music from L.A. and Drill music from Chicago are all very much southern influenced but they still have some degree of uniqueness.

Naw nikka ratchet music was influenced by hyphy music and that certainly wasnt influenced by the south but im not gonna get into that big debate again. Just know that Yo gotti and Young Jeezy dont shout out the bay in those songs for no reason.

Around 2006 rick Ross came out with everyday I'm hustlin produced by the runners, the runners and justice league with Ross led by dj Khalid ushered in that new south sound that took over, it's kinda been a wrap since then lol

I assumed it wasn't. My post was only based off of a handful of rappers youtube video's posted in that thread.

And that's good.I always considered the bay and Cali in general to be the last vestige of unique and authentic hip-hop music and style.
