Maino ain't wrong. I get what he was saying. If they cool like that BDot shouldn't talk down his music in public

So Maino basically telling him to cook the taste tester books, Bdot said he didn’t think the other tape was that hot and Maino argued his opinion down.

When you know ppl, sometimes you avoid exactly what he got on this podcast :yeshrug:

If they're actually cool past just a professional relationship, the negative critiques should be in private.

In public, you should just not review it, if you don't like it, or be as politically correct as possible because that's a person you have a real relationship with.

How are so many of you niccas getting this wrong? :dwillhuh::mjlol:

All he was saying was if you're my man, the best way you could protect my career from being damaged from negative press from you since you have a big platform is to NOT SAY ANYTHING. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't bring it up at all. That's all.

Then you’re asking him to compromise who he feels he is as a man and what he does for a living. From what I got dude only disliked 1 song and probably didn’t listen to ole boy tape so he didn’t have to tell him his true thoughts of it. Im surprised Mainos career did this good but it was probably from pressing dudes with this friendly extortion.

Just avoid the whole shyt if dude can’t be honest

Na he truly saying, say something good about it and compromise your own principles as a man.

Funny you bring that song up, B Dot mentioned that song in this interview specifically saying he didn't like it publicly, and said he's known J Cole longer than anyone in the industry and they're close friends and he still shytted on his record.

What I got from this all is B Dot and Maino have different perceptions of being friends. I'm on Main's side. If I have a big voice in the industry and my friend drops a record I don't like, I won't say anything about it. I'd just ignore it and tell him in private
I also think it’s a question of how much you value friendship. Some people value it more than others. Some people simply value voicing their opinions over keeping their friendships or friends happy. I get it from both sides.

B. Dot values his opinion from a journalistic perspective than he does a relationship with an artist. I can’t not respect that.

Im with B.Dot 100%. Those "relationships" is whats wrong with the game now. So called critics scared to be critical in fear of ruining a relationship. You want them to scream and shout to everybody when they like your songs and just be quiet when they don't? Nah man, cant just be a bad rapper coasting through the game just because you made friends with dudes in hopes they won't criticize your art. I'm sure he has learned thats how the game is but thats lame especially since B. Dot said it was just one song

Publicly. He coulda just kept his opinion to himself.

it’s like nas coming out randomly saying he don’t like j cole “work out” for no other reason outside of attention lol.

if that’s your man why try to step on his shyt like that

Maino could have kept that record to himself.

And Nas didn't come out saying that publicly. Cole said on "Let Nas Down" that No I.D. called him after "Work Out" was released, telling him that Nas didn't like it. "Told me 'Nas heard your single and he hate that shyt'/'Said 'you the one, yo, why you make that shyt?''"

The world pretty much operates based off who you know though. The music industry is no different. The music industry always has and always will be about who you know.

Not bout being fake. It’s about doing your best not to harm your brother if you can.

example I have a popular YouTube page, let’s say my brother shoots music video, I see my brother video and wanna review, shyts trash, I’m gonna throw my review in the trash and act like I didn’t even see it’s trash. I’m not gonna make a review calling it trash to 100k people and fukk up his career.
You don’t think that affects your journalistic integrity though? Because it does.

This is really a personal perspective issue. Do you value your friendships more or do you value your journalistic integrity more?? There’s no wrong answer there, some will pick one side and some will pick the other.
