How are so many of you niccas getting this wrong? :dwillhuh::mjlol:

All he was saying was if you're my man, the best way you could protect my career from being damaged from negative press from you since you have a big platform is to NOT SAY ANYTHING. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't bring it up at all. That's all.

But isn’t not saying anything just as damning :dahell:

If Maino looks at him as a major influencer and he doesn’t critique his project that’s just as bad.

Maino is basically trying to use their relationship to his advantage. I could understand if the project wasn’t finished and he asked him to listen to tracks to get his opinion and he just blew him off, or if he gave his opinion of unreleased tracks and then played them online. But the project was done and he had a release date.

Maino basically was trying to get free promo :mjpls: from someone with a major platform relative to his target market. That’s not his job. Furthermore, Maino has over 700k more followers than BDot so does his opinion really matter that much in 2020:dahell: the game is different.

:yeshrug:We I’m about half way through this and the elephant in the room both keep tippy towing around is simple

Maino isn’t relevant. Is in the minor leagues. He’s knows it, we all know it. His problem is B-Dot also knows it and acts accordingly :manny:

Maino saw his relationship with B-dot as a way out of the minor leagues or at least give him access to the majors. It ain’t happening.

Maino is 47 years old. Any dreams of being hot are long gone. He got in the game late and it passed him by. He’s too old to be worrying about a nikka listening to a project he’s put out. In many cases, it’s not just about the music. Maino’s core audience and fan base should already be solidified. The fact that he’s looking for someone who works at a music publication nobody cares about speaks to how desperate he is to maintain a minor league career.

And sure enough as I continued listening, Maino confirms what I just wrote :mjlol:

People talking about journalistic integrity don't seem to realize something else just as important about actual journalism.

You shouldn't be reviewing or doing a story on somebody you have a personal relationship with in the first place. Your objectivity will be compromised and the perception of bias one way or another is unavoidable.

And watching that clip just shows how insecure and not built for music Maino is. If your shyt is garbage, bullying and scaring people into saying the opposite doesn't change the facts from the ground up.

I can't be mad at my friend for being a man of principle.

Let's my friend is a cop and I sell dope. If my friend caught me, is he supposed to let me go?

There are things you don't ask your friends if they are really your friends.

If I am a restaurant owner and you are a food critic with a big platform in the dining world...but also my friend, and you write a bad review on my restaurant we are not going to be friends anymore bro, lol, I might ask you to put your hands up too. How is this foreign to yall?

Now, you can call me personally and tell me "Bro, the food I had sucked at your restaurant", that's fine, that's actually helpful. But to publicly shyt on what I do to make money and feed mine and we're friends? Nah, no way. Just don't say shyt about it if that's the case, you don't have to lie and say the food is great, I respect your integrity...but don't fukk up my money, you have influence.
It’s common sense. These nikkas either don’t have friends or are shytty friends. One or the other.

to the bolded.......well no :dahell: out of sight, out of mind. Maybe NOW we'd see it as a bad thing because of the power of hindsight in relation to their relationship but before this interview if B Dot didn't give his opinion on a Maino release, who the fucc would clock onto that being an indicator to its quality?!?

to the second bolded [maino] nicca, is you crazy? nikka....is you fuccin crazy [/voice with finger pointed] lmao...fam....please don't tell me you think social media following number = actual popularity is 1:1??.............:mjlol::dead:

To the rest of what you said...fam, that's captain obvious sh't...everyone already knows this...it's adjacent to the actual CRUX of the issues Maino had with B Dot. There wasn't just one bone Maino had to pick with him, he was obviously using that interview as the time to get everything off his chest that he held for some time. Obviously maino had too much ego to explicitly state that he fuccs with B Dots friendship, opinion and platform so much he was hurt that he got treated like a regular nicca but ALSO he just wanted the nicca to not fucc his sh't up by volunteering a negative opinion in public, B Dot has no idea how his opinion could sway things on a public opinion level and/or business level, since he's an industry nicca. Maino already said he had no problem with him giving that negative opinion in private, but don't do it on a random in public. This is common sense people c'mon, this situation ain't that deep.

People are really retarded in this thread

They actually think B Dot not volunteering an opinion is him compromising his journalistic integrity :pachaha::dead:

This whole debate would be completely different if Maino said don't say nothing if B Dot was ASKED his opinion on the project
