I've noticed, people on the internet hate people that are really tough guys in real life. Cause there's rapper way worse than Maino lyrically, that don't get half the hate he does on here. Only reason I think is because he punks so many rappers cause he's a real live nikka. Fans online love the corny, fake nikkas more than the people who really about what they rap. Weirdos.

You speak the truth sir. This is the reason nikkas like Big Sean more than Maino online. Suburban dudes finally have representation in hip hop and they're not willing to go back to the days of the goons being the coolest nikkas around. They like seeing themselves being the cool guy therefore they root for Drake to win.

It's just like in High School, if the goons in the school were the coolest nikkas in the school and got all the girls from your freshman to your junior year and you were a square you wouldn't like it. But then all of a sudden as a senior shyt change and the girls start jocking the square guys and the coolest guy in school is the most square and awkward nikka in the school (Drake) you would love it because that guy represents you. This is why the Drake's, The ASAP's, The Big Sean's, J-Cole's etc. get so much love online. Squares finally have their representation and since they outnumber the goons in social media presence their voice is the loudest.

Lol can you blame them though? A good portion of the ppl that actually buy the music are these so called "squares/suburban dudes" so I don't see anything wrong with them liking artists that they can sort of relate to more than a 50 cent or beanie sigel. It's better to have them stay in their lane and be them rather than have a bunch of wannabe gangsters or fake wiggers and posers walking around. More diversity in music is better. Not everyone is into gangsta music like that.

I agree that wack dudes like keef, migos and those fukkbois should not get as much love as a dude like maino or other similar rappers, but what do i know :manny:

Dumb comment. Maino is the only rapper in NY actually helping put NY rappers on. The Mafia is the most authentic NY rap out right now, and Push! probably the best unsigned NY rapper out right now. Lucky Don dope as fukk too.
:smh: you stay sucking up to Maino like you're posting under duress and shyt. He's not that good.

I never said I blamed them, however what I do blame them for is not admitting the real reasons they like those artists. Don't sit here and front like Big Sean is a good rapper. Suburban nikkas like him because he's a twerp like they are so they have a vested interest in seeing him stay popular.

First of all, if people listened to rappers because they relate to them or they represent them, of course nobody will listen to someone like Maino. No one would have ever listened to someone like Maino because ain't nobody being stick up kids and robbing people and then running online to talk about it.

Maino doesn't even reflect his hood or his borough at this point. If the Jeffersons came back to do a reboot series, they wouldn't live on the East Side. They'd live in Bed-Stuy. The issue that plagues Maino is that his borough's quality of life has improved dramatically (NYC in general but especially BK). That's good for the residents that can afford it, but it kills his gimmick entirely. Seeing the poverty you complained about slowly eradicate is great except if you rap. People wised up and realized that the goon is the dumbest most reckless nikka in the room. Why emulate that? Back in the day, someone like Maino running up on someone would be the highlight of a party. In 2013, he'd ruin it. Things done changed

Didn't say you blamed them...it was more of a rhetorical question. Anyway, I don't care for Big Sean, but who are you to decide the real reason why they like him as an artist. Everyone has different tastes and not everyone who listens to him is from the suburbs. Listen to whoever you want, it's music.

Things done changed in certain places. I commend Giuliani and Bloomberg for cleaning up NYC. Out here in the Bay Area I've seen no change, things have changed in L.A though. nikkas are getting softer in NY tho which was Maino's main part, and soft doesn't mean you have to be a goon. Soft to me means there's nothing you're willing to stand for.

I heard a song by Macklemore on KMEL last week which was about accepting gay people. If a nikka tried to make a positive song about systematic violence or anything that was pro-black or socially conscious radio wouldn't play it. It's no coincidence that rap is getting softer, Viacom and Clear Channel controls everything on the airwaves.

An observer, I've never heard a Big Sean fan deny my theory of why they like him.

"Viacom and Clear Channel controls everything on the airwaves"
they dont control what the average person now listen to.

why do we need the radio to play anything for us to hear it. with so many ways artists can release songs now a days, who really saying "i gotta check radio for this new shiit" people on here love to talk about people connected more now then ever to what goes on line, what young person gonna spend all day waiting on radio to play something they wanna hear when they can find it themselves online
