The world is full of hate, violence, and negativity. Let's change that in 2016.

Challenge yourself to make someone's day and help spread some positivity and good vibes this year.

Post your good deeds in this thread.

I'll start.

Last night I was on my way home from a video shoot at 4:30am.

I was across the city on the other side of the mountain and the metro was closed so I had to take a night bus.

I waited almost 5min after the bus was supposed to arrive and I started to realize that either the bus came early or didn't come at all...and that there was no bus for another hour or so...and that this basically meant I had to walk home.

:sadcam:

I was annoyed as hell cuz it was freezing last night...something stupid like -15 to -20 C (-4 to 7 F), and I was 6.2km from home. But I like a good challenge, exercise & adventure so I started walkin.

Not even 1min after I started walkin, I saw a guy across the street & he started asking me something. I crossed the street cuz I couldn't hear him. He was asking for the time.

It was so cold that both of our iPhones wouldn't turn on.

:mjcry:

We started talkin & realized we were both stuck (I had no cash on me, just my bus pass and he lost his car keys & wallet) and that we were heading in the same direction.

We were both grateful for each other's company cuz otherwise we'd be walkin alone and we had a long ass way to go (me: 1 hour 17min, him 1 hour 30min).

We talked about all kinds of shyt and it turned out that he's Haitian/Jamaican so we started sharing our travels (him in Haiti, me in JA). We also talked about that poor girl in the US who froze to death a few days ago- apparently she had fallen outside and had knocked herself out, passed out in the snow & died.

:lupe:

Eventually he told me it's his birthday and he had been drinkin & partying with friends, got too drunk, lost his keys & wallet and his friends then tried to catch the bus but missed it too.

I was feeling so bad for breh on his birthday. I was happy to at least keep him company so he didn't have to spend his birthday walkin home alone at 4:30am in subzero temperatures.

Eventually we were getting near my place and it was cold af and he still had another 15min to walk to get to where he was going.

We were both cold as hell so I offered him to come to my place to warm up.

I made us some lemon ginger tea, piled a bunch of blankets on him & myself and got him a charger so he could charge his phone & get the exact address of where he was going.

We chilled, drank our tea, and watched some dancehall party vids on YouTube.

Once his phone was charged, he got the address of where he was going and went on his way.

I'm glad to have been able to help him out and warm him up on his birthday. And he was happy to have walked with me cuz I didn't have to walk alone so late at night.

A mutually beneficial win/win situation.

Sounds very cozy and nice. It may be cold each other but there's no reason we need to be cold to others too. These sort of gestures brighten up your day and the world. That said, yall didn't have relations? :sas1:

:patrice:

Why though? Why not do something nice for a change and make someone's day?

You can't be that full of hate and negativity, can you?

:dwillhuh:

Maybe it's kind of selfish in a way but I swear that doing something nice for someone will make you feel wonderful.

What's that mean?
Too Long, Didn't Read = A summery of your story in one or two short sentences.

Strawberry missed the last bus going home and met a guy who was going home in the same direction from his birthday party with no friends, keys, and wallet, stranded in freezing weather. Strawberry did a good deed by inviting him to her house to get warm, charge his phone to make his way home safely.

Very good deed btw Strawberry.

Hey Roddy, Happy 2016! :salute:

Aww, thanks for blessing this thread with some positivity.

I feel good knowing that I'm contributing to the world being a happier and more positive and joyful place. We need to come together and encourage this type of behaviour.

There's too many people getting killed for no reason, all over the world, everyday.

:sadcam:

I want to encourage and promote kindness and positivity because I believe that if everyone was a bit happier and kinder to one another we could change all that and there would be a significant drop in senseless murders.

Come help spread love, it feels so good!

:blessed:

Oh back to your question though, it was kinda funny cuz while we were walking he told me how he had gone through a really bad breakup and that he had gone on a trip to Haiti afterwards with the intention of having casual sex and he said it didn't work cuz he wasn't attracted to any of the black women out there.

I was like :dwillhuh:

But you're black...there's tons of beautiful black women!

I even encouraged him to give black women another chance and to maybe try a Jamaican girl next time but he seemed like he was only interested in white girls.

Plus it was his birthday but I was like nahhhh. I really don't like bringing home guys I just met and having sex like that. I gave him my # and told him to come party at this weekly reggae/dancehall night and that was that.

He was a gentleman and didn't try to make any slick moves, didn't even try to cuddle up with me when we got inside, nothing. He flirted a bit and was extremely well behaved compared to other men I've hung out with.

:ehh:

Please share a story with us. I know I'm not the only one on here who is kind to others and I'm surprised nobody's sharing anything yet.

The story doesn't have to be from 2016, it could be an old story.

But I definitely encourage all Coli posters to be a little more positive and kind to others this year.

Let's make 2016 the best year of our lives!

:jbhmm: Yeah I just remember one, had to think for a minute. There was this girl at the gas station on the other side of the pump She was asking for gas, she didn't have enough in the tank to make it from Savannah to Brunswick. She was driving a dodge avenger and her license plate was from Maryland. I was spectacle about it at first :patrice: ,but I also notice she had clothes in the back seat and like bibles and related stuff in the window and since I had good vibes from her I said it wouldn't hurt. I have pumppal card(loyalty card) on me that's linked to my checking account, but my funds was pasted my limit, and I like to keep a good amount in my account. I usually have cash on me, but I left it at the house. So, I asked was $15 good enough, and she lit up like crazy. She smiled and was happy to be make it with that enough. She asked if it was enough to make it, I was like sure since it's like an hour and some change away. I hooked her up and that was that. Felt the good feels inside after that. :obama:

That's really kind and generous of you, respect!

:salute:

$15 may not seem like much to you but for someone who is in desperate need of some help it can make a world of difference.

Bless your heart.

I love stories like this. They keep me from losing hope in humanity.

That's cause you're white:why: what the fukk? Them jamaican nikkas ain't teach you shyt

:patrice:

The guy I was walking with was Haitian/Jamaican actually so not really sure what you have to say about that. And he didn't even have gloves on!

He was doing the exact same thing as me and we crossed paths and made the long journey home together.

We both agreed that it was much better than being alone.

You'd prefer if I snubbed him and made the breh walk home alone drunk on his birthday?

No way!

Not after that drunk chick in the US froze to death while walking outside drunk.

:rip:

I can't even imagine how terrible I would have felt if I found out today he had slipped or fallen or knocked himself out while walkin home and froze to death.

I never would have forgiven myself for the rest of my life.

:sadcam:

What Jamaicans have taught me is irrelevant in this situation.

Anyways, Jamaican men, women, and children have taught me all kinds of valuable stuff.

I can even pick ackee from a tree with a bamboo stick.

:obama:

How many white people you know that can do that? I bet only a handful of people on the Coli know how to do that shyt, and they're probably all Caribbean or African.

Yeah. He was really nice.

It's Canada breh, we're mad friendly up here.

It was funny though, he was surprised I was walkin alone in the middle of nowhere so late at night.

He was like "Damn girl, you've got some balls!"

:russ:

I honestly feel very safe walking alone anywhere in Canada anytime of day.

I've also walked alone in Jamaica a whole bunch but that's totally different. You have to be way more alert/careful, especially late at night, and especially because I'm a white girl.

I was actually living in one spot that the locals advised me not to walk alone down there after sunset cuz there's a lot of guns & shootings in the hood just beside where I was staying. (I had to pass this notoriously dangerous hood to get to town and the beach cuz I was living up on a big ass hill & that was the only route).

One time a local drove me home on a motorcycle late at night and he was tripping balls cuz it was dark and I couldn't remember exactly which hill I lived on (I was a bit drunk). He was freaking out sayin shyt like "I don't have my gun on me and we have to drive through Red Ground?!?!!?!"

:damn:

It made me nervous that even a local dude who's kind of a tough guy was nervous but we finally found it and I reached home safe.

:blessed:

I've lived through so much crazy shyt that I swear I am blessed by angels.

:dwillhuh:
He didn't mean that he was impressed. He meant literally, "damn girl, you look like you own a pair of actual testicles."
