I do agree with @EndDomination that the cop should have reacted to tase her in that moment.

There were three cops standing right there, so yes - there were "three cops to just break it up" if you're too much of a fukking coward to do so - get off the force.

I grew up with a lot of angry kids, and knives weren't uncommon, but if community members, parents, and teachers could break up and stop altercations I promise you three armored cops could do the same thing.

I’m trying to figure out which video you are watching. There was no other cops standing the. The girl in pink was standing there trying to tell the cop what happened and Makiah came from the house with a knife trying to stab her. The cop wasn’t even close enough to grab them at the time.

Physically restraining them from behind? At the most extreme, using a taser?

Shooting a child with a knife is the least applicable way to handle this, the most ham-fisted, and the most blood-thirsty.

Is that a hypothesis, or is that the actual way to take down a knife wielding suspect?

I’m viewing this from a pragmatic perspective. We can’t expect cops to have empathy, or care about these people, or believe that any of those girls could turn their lives around, and shouldn’t be killed. However, she could have seriously harmed the other girl.

This definitely needs to be a new tactic. Drop all weapons when the police show up. They can’t claim they, or anyone else was in danger when hands are empty.

We really need better conflict resolution so these situations to escalate to this level in the first place.

one of the programs me and another dude had was teaching these young folks simply how to make better choices especially in the heat of the moment bcuz when you don’t learn/practice it at an early age then you end up with adults who have the same temperament as kids...when budget cuts hit tho, programs like these are the first to go

I see other comments saying the pops should have “easily” broken it up but some of these teens will go toe-to-toe with you without hesitation...idk what happened before so I’m not gonna play the guessing game too much but in general many young ppl definitely need to be taught how to weigh consequences when making certain decisions

He should of drawn the taser IMO but it don't matter in this case...

Don't matter how old you are, you draw a weapon with intent to use it on somebody, deadly force becomes an option to put you down...
