Isn't Ohio a Stand Your Ground state? So if those girls came to Her Home to harm her she has a Right to Defend herself, and my daughter wouldn't be with a group of girls going to someone's home looking to fight someone. What if that was your daughter that was out there trying to defend herself and a cop kill her you gonna say she shouldn't of been out there trying to defend herself?
Yep ohio is a stand your ground state and they actually tightened up the stand your ground laws for folks defending themselves.
Thats one reason local activist folks in columbus are hot about this shooting.

Uh I don’t think standing your ground involves running out into your front yard & attempting to stab someone who wasn’t posing a direct threat to your life. Yea maybe she came by and was menacing and trying to intimidate or start something, but the police arrived, there was no reason to suddenly go on attack and try to stab the girl in pink. I’m not a lawyer but it doesn’t seem like a stand your ground situation.

I get it. A young girl is dead who probably didn’t have to be. We are tired of seeing this same story play out. Tired of black suffering. Crying mothers. “Waiting to hear the whole story”, “thoughts and prayers”, etc.
Its exhausting.
And I do think there’s a conversation to be had about police use of force in this case. Could he have approached it differently? Should there be some other type of non lethal rounds? Should cops be expected to put their life on the line to save others? Is there any other training he could have/should have had to produce a better result. Lots of stuff to talk about with this case.....but....
People shouldn’t be comparing this to other recent cases of police brutality. She was shot literally in the act of trying to kill someone else. You diminish those cases by trying to put every case in the same bag. People so ready for “another one” that they believe the first thing and anything that gets them to that narrative.

I finally saw the entire body cam video. The cop did tell her/them to stop. The father did nothing to try and stop it. It seemed like she got even crazier because a cop showed up instead of the opposite. Just sad all around

I honestly think that the timing of this coupled in with biases is clouding most people's judgement on this situation. I'm not engaging in discussion on this with anyone outside of here because everyone already has their minds made up and will do or say anything to fit their predetermined narrative. All I can say is that this girl didn't deserve to die, and this situation is fukked up as a whole.

That cop didn't have to shoot her, she was an arms length away from him and not threatening him directly. He chose to pull a gun immediately instead of a taser. Had his hand on it as soon as he got out of the car
There's an argument for shooting once he has the other girl up against the car, but it didn't have to get to that point. Instead of breaking up the fight the coward panicked and pulled his gun
