As he aged he became corny. Malcolm seems like that's his natural personality. He seems like he progressed into that person.
I get that vibe from him more than say a Michael B Jordan. Michael can play multiple characters. Malcolm is the same in every role. He's not Alphonso corny at all. It's a reason why those dudes haven't really shook those characters archetype

I never thought of Theo as corny....I used to wonder where was Sondra in the early days? Lol

Michael was a genius who provided everyone in his family with Black power and a sense of importance in spite of their horrible living situations. He fought gang niqqas who front on his mother. He was brave and unafraid, even more than his family. The homo symptoms didn’t outweigh what he brought to his family and little Black kids watching the show.I appreciated the character but watching Good Times as an adult it's obvious Michael Evans was a whole fakkit.
I'm not talking about the actor, who is gay, but his homo mannerisms bled so much into Michael, it made the character a homo too.
Michael Evans gave off total "Him downstairs" energy with his sassy, eye-rolling ass.

It's interesting how people tend to put people in boxes. For a black man there's archetypes deemed as 'acceptable.' It's sad.

It's funny because I used to see both Dwayne and Ron as corny. Sort of try-hard and weird in some way while Theo was regular and at worst, bland but in an understandable sort of way. I didn't hate Dwayne and Ron since they were entertaining but still they seemed weird to me.

You're not looking at this in relative terms.
To be fair, Theo as a Freshman in college was cooler than Dwayne as a Freshman in college.
You're looking at the finished product of Dwayne and using that by comparison. He was a thirsty simp when he arrived at Hillman. Conversely, Theo was rocking steady with Justine in his early college years.
