Why do rich black people have an aversion to nepotism? I remember Puffy did an interview with his son and he talked about how he refuses to help his son establish a career as a rapper. Steve Harvey expressed similar sentiment about how when he dies none of his kids will get anything. Industry people will know it's her so she will still benefit from her connection to Obama but her name is politically charged so in the eyes of regular people, it will allow her to avoid some scrutiny. That and she gets to make it seem like she did everything on her own merit when her connection is still there. I will admit though, it is a bad look given all the shyt her momma has been spouting (another reason why Michelle should have been more tactful when speaking).

The dual edge sword of having renowned parents is that while opportunities come easier, so does scrutiny. You’re put under a magnifying glass and judged much harsher than if there wasn’t the presumption that things were handed to you. The name change is nonsensical though, just do great work and people will take you seriously. Sofia Coppola was mocked for years for her performance in the Godfather III, then she made Lost in Translation and the rest is history.
