Police say a man stole a cruiser on Thursday morning and used the police radio to taunt the officers and disrupt radio transmissions.

Officers first responded to the home Laurelton Street at 4 a.m. for a domestic disturbance. When they arrived at the scene, a woman asked the officers to take her boyfriend, 27-year-old Michael Kopeski, out of the home.

Officials say Kopeski was cooperative in leaving, but became outraged when the officers wouldn't let him go back in to "get his stuff."

Kopeski allegedly called the officers "pigs" and walked over to the cruiser, which was running, to spit on it. The officers say they told the suspect to calm down and relax, which is when Kopeski allegedly threatened to steal the cruiser.

Police say Kopeski yanked open the door handle, hopped into the drivers side and began to drive away. The officers ran after the cruiser and one was able to open the passenger door and spray pepper stray at Kopeski, "but it had no effect on the possessed driver," a Thursday press release said.

Kopeski then allegedly used the police radio over the next 20 minutes to taunt the officers and disrupt radio transmissions.

The offers were able to pinpoint Kopeski's location as another officer spotted the cruiser, effectively taking Kopeski into custody.

"Mr. Kopeski then got another ride in a police car, this time in the rear seat, cuffed," the press release said.

The suspect was arrested on charges of larceny, assault and battery, failure to stop for police, and resisting arrest. He was scheduled for arraignment on Monday.

"Calm down and relax"?:what:

Had that been a black dude that pulled that, cops would have been

on him

These cops ran after the guy driving a vehicle. I'm sure the same type of equality would be shown in a situation like that had this been a black person.
