Can’t even watch but if he did that because he was trying to help the dog and had no other means he will rightfully beat the case animal abuse has to be willful @CouldntBeMeTho 
I had a previous girlfriend who amputated a wild bird’s wing, with no experience doing so … because the bird had injured its wing … it was one of the most traumatic things I watched in real life, I’m still thinking of it like it wasn’t me there like I am just watching from a third point of view - that’s how much I had to detach myself from the experience
She was literally manic at the time and soon after had a complete mental breakdown and was dragging a blanket down the street
I felt so stupid for going along with her at the time, although I asked her to reconsider at every juncture
She cut the doves wing off and used a soldering iron to heat the wounds shut. Then she put it in a cage outside her house and it died 5 days later with no medical attention
People can be sick, the biggest victims are the people closest to them - who often love the person too much to realize it at the time

Sensitivity training and a trip to the national dog museum. .That's a fair punishment
. Personally I'm of the opinion that this is a waste of taxpayer dollars. The judge, the prosecutor, the public defender, and the police investigators would be better utilized on crimes against humans.
I'd completely understand if he stole somebody else's dog and did this weird shyt to it but he didn't. If you read the article, the dog was initially injured by farm equipment and the owner tried to render aid to his own dog . Aid which saved that animals life.
The cynical side of me thinks the vet is angry because her practice didn't get to bill him for the amputation themselves.
