Feel as though blaming it on drugs is a bit of a copout.
I was saying to my mum not long ago, when talking about the state of Jamaica, how consideration should be given to the malice that is normalised within households.
Family members trying to obeah relatives, neighbors, friends, colleagues over jealousy and pettiness. Not enough consideration is given to affect this has on the minds of kids who grow up in that environment.
They see that it is normal to try and destroy who has more than them. Now when children see their parents do things that don't work out, the tendency is to take more tangible steps.
Someone who grows up in a household that prays to the Lord might become more proactive in pursuing higher education, pushing themselves in their career etc. Someone who grows up in a household trying to obeah their neighbor might seek direct means of hurting their enemies.
Tragic situation. Strengthens my view that view that communities need to place a greater burden on how families operate.
