I was thinking maybe he didn't realize the kids were back there. Maybe he did and had a conscience, and decided, "Hey, maybe let me pull over and drop them off so the parents at least get that much." This piece of shyt only stopped because it was rush hour.

He forfeited his humanity the moment he decided he gave no fukks about the children in the backseat of the vehicle he had stolen. Those kids were going to end up dead or worse. This. How would the bystanders know that the father was the father? Maybe he was a crazy guy running up on a father with kids in the car? No way to know for sure until all the facts come out. Definitely not enough info to participate in a beatdown that turns into a homicide.

The thing about it is the mob of people were two blocks away.

Giving the age of the father I'm assuming he is known in the area and his friends helped him jump the dude.
