Man, it'd be tight if Diddy redid Bad Boy Records & got it going like the 90's again

Diddy was doing his thing in Hip Hop and R&B in the mid to late 90's working with everyone from Biggie to Mariah Carey. It'd be tight if Diddy got all of the Hitmen producers back together and then started signing new up and coming emcees and singers again. I think it'd be interesting to see him sign some artists like maybe Big Krit, Curren$y, and Roc Marciano. Then get singers like Bruno Mars, Rebecca Ferguson and Elle Varner to fill out the R&B side of things.

Diddy had the talent spread out all across the board on his record label:

I can remember when this video came out and I was like, :ohhh:

Then who could forget this?

Even the R&B tracks stayed on point (Ma$e's verse on the first one below is one of my favorites):

you really think the young kids whose minds change every month that determine urban radio and your top 40 are gonna be vibing to roc marciano, elle varner, or give a fukk about what diddy did in the 90s when they were in kindergarten and shyt back then

i realize i contribute to what determines whats popular, but i am not the core demographic. people will not get shyt popping like any times before. times are different now, and i'm not really complaining its just how it is

accept and be content that the machine can get behind a rapper like kendrick lamar and put enough money into him to be successful on a nationwide level. also accept that the machine can get behind an act like chief keef and make him successful fairly quickly on a nationwide level (though some of his shyt do be decent)

french montana is a pretty sizeable 'hip hop star', but outside of the hip hop fans aint no one tryna hear french montana. and no one in general tryna hear MGK or Red Cafe :lolbron: and cassie could probably put out a decent R & B CD :russ:, but she'll go the electropop route cause thats what diddy's pushing on her.

even if he were to sign the coli's 10 favorite rappers, 90% of the top 40 generation aint even tryna hear them

No, what I'm saying is that Diddy could lock down Hip Hop/R&B or Pop music again if he really wanted too. But I think his focus is really on his vodka, restaurants, clothing lines and tv/movie deals. But Diddy knows and has what it takes to make talented artists became stars and name brands. The time or era has nothing to do with it when it comes to someone like Diddy because he's always thinking and moving forward, so he knows what works and what doesn't. That's what makes Diddy, "Diddy". He would know how to market and sell artist like Big Kritt or Curren$y because he's a hustler.

Again, Diddy's full attention hasn't really been on music because he's getting money from his vodka, restaurants, movie/tv deals etc. If he really was all about the music like he was in the 90's, he could do it. That's how he's gotten the vodka and tv/movie deals because he's a hustler. He understand and knows how to run businesses.
