I work 32 miles from home. The commute is long but I get avoid most traffic because it’s going the opposite way. My job is very specific and I can only work certain places. My job is the 2nd closest of all the places I can work in my field. I’m not a fan of the salary provided by the closest location.
I'm certainly not about to defend Biden here, but this is definitely a case of "Sounds like a you problem."
It's not any one politician's fault they you were damn near 50 miles from the office, and your workplace is hell bent on getting people on the office.
Sounds like it's time to use whatever leverage you have at work to either continue working from home, or go hybrid. Otherwise, seek out another workplace that gets closer to providing the same value to you and your lifestyle that you're providing to them.

I work from home. yet, I work in healthcare. vaccination has been a requirement, even for us remote people. it is what it is. but they already abandoned the idea of us having to go back in the office at least
