Police say a 21-year-old man in custody for domestic assault spit on and kicked at sheriff's deputies in Van Buren County last week.

On March 12, deputies with the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of domestic assault at the 78000 block of 60th Street in Keeler Township, a news release issued by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office said.

There they spotted Jared Sinclair, 21, from Keeler Township, walking along 60th Street and arrested him in connection with the incident.

While sitting in the back of a patrol car, Sinclair slipped his handcuffs from "behind his body to the front," and "became combative," the news release said.

Deputies eventually pulled the patrol car over in order to subdue Sinclair, who was trying to "kick the windows out of the patrol car," according to the release.

While re-handcuffing the suspect, Sinclair spit on, kicked at and grabbed the deputies, causing minor injuries to one, the release said.

The deputy was treated at Bronson Lakeview Hospital and subsequently released.

Sinclair was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail and is charged with domestic assault, resisting and obstructing police as well as assaulting a police officer.

During the course of the investigation, police also discovered Sinclair had outstanding warrants out for his arrest in Missouri.

His extradition is pending, according to the release.

Wow.
If he does get extradited, I doubt he'll get out on bail. Whose going to pay for that? Just the trip to Missouri is hours away, and then to pay for him to get out and drive him back to his next court dates? I think he'll be in jail for months.
