First thing I thought of when seeing the title was who off of here did that 
He did her a favor, actually. She could have just gotten a newer, better phone.
She made the mistake in assuming that he'd pay for the whole evening. I don't really know any grown woman who leaves the house without any emergency money whilst on a date. Just in case something goes wrong, you at least have a little cash for a cab to get home.
