Man...Uniform worship is weird as fukk

Was getting gas this morning, and it was a Vietnam vet pumping gas. All of a sudden this random middle aged cac approached him and is like "Thank you for your service, sir". OG gave him this look like . What is with CAC's and this love affair with anything in uniform? There hasn't been a serviceman or woman in my life time that has fought in a war that has had any impact on my freedom or rights. If anything the erosion of civil rights/liberties is coming from within. I remember seeing some breh's in uniform visibly uncomfortable with random people coming up to them shaking their hands.

Whether it police, fire, or military Cac's are always ready to lick the boot. No disrespect to any Coli service breh's, but I don't get this shyt.

I could honestly understand if it was a selfless endeavor. But if we’re being honest here most people aren’t joining the military because they want to. It’s for the benefits that come with it.

It is cynical. I'm not critical of anyone that served, I'm critical of the people who go out of their way to thank people. It just comes off a bit contrived sometimes. Especially the interaction this morning. Older breh had the reaction he did because he knew that man wouldn't have said a word to him without the "Vietnam veteran" hat he was wearing.

I'm not gonna lie growing up I drank the koolaide, and it wasn't until I started traveling that I realized that no one really gives a fukk about us outside of pop culture references. They didn't hate us. They didn't hate our freedoms, and we spent vastly more time thinking about them, then they ever did about us.
