I got in an argument with a former friend about this. We were on a plane and a military guy got on an everybody gave him a standing ovation. She was pissed that I didn’t stand up and applaud to. Like OP said most these dudes joined cause they were fukk ups in HS and could give a fukk about protecting the country. I’ve also worked on a military base and saw how many of the military guys are pompous a$$holes. So I could give a fukk less about them.

My grandpops was a black WW2 vet when he would wear his hat and pins outside CACs would thank him for his service. I would chime in about how the military and American society was segregated back then. CACs brains would malfunction and then go into ohh it was a different time then.

If american society was half as patriotic as they portray themselves to be they would lobby for compulsory service.
Was getting gas this morning, and it was a Vietnam vet pumping gas. All of a sudden this random middle aged cac approached him and is like "Thank you for your service, sir". OG gave him this look like. What is with CAC's and this love affair with anything in uniform? There hasn't been a serviceman or woman in my life time that has fought in a war that has had any impact on my freedom or rights. If anything the erosion of civil rights/liberties is coming from within. I remember seeing some breh's in uniform visibly uncomfortable with random people coming up to them shaking their hands.
Whether it police, fire, or military Cac's are always ready to lick the boot. No disrespect to any Coli service breh's, but I don't get this shyt.
