Rabies is curable if treated quickly. This case was when the patient was NOT treated with the available drugs in a timely manner once symptoms began showing which takes a few days to weeks. Also note, it’s been tried multiple times since this case with no other success. Its not a successful method

You go to the hospital once bitten and get the vaccine and immunoglobulin shots around the bite. If you work in a high risk field, the vaccine given pre exposure is enough to keep you safe. Pets require the vaccine in most first world countries, but it’s not required or recommended for most people to be vaccinated at this time.

Rabies WILL kill you however if you do not get these treatments on time. It’s a scary disease that has killed millions possibly more over the millennia. The RAGE virus from 21 days later was an altered form of rabies or Lyssavirus. Weaponized rabies is a scary thought. However it’s natural form of transmission being through bites is not a good way of spread
