Honestly, Nintendo is one of the few companies still making truly great games that still have some degree of difficulty. Games like Donkey Kong Tropical breeze and Super Mario 3D are challenging as fukk!

Most of the comments im readind posters were kids themselves playing ps1 games, those were easy too nikka i was born in 83. There were hardly any continues on most games and no internet. I remember beating Contra for the first time without the Konami Code, i felt like a g. Another hard game from the 80's was a game called Time Soldiers, it was on the Sega Master System and my lawd was that game difficult

To be fair, the emergence of COD and the yearly franchise games like FIFA and 2K have given kids less of a reason to be diverse with the games now. They usually just pick up the games that their friends will play online with them.

Having said that, when I was 10-12, I knew the entire move set for about 3 fighters each on Tekken, Soul Calibur & Street Fighter off by heart and I knew Kung Lao & Liu Kang's fatalities off by heart as well so there's no excuse to be totally trash at games.

Nintendo is also one of the worst offenders with that "Die five times, here's a free power-up. Die another five times, become invincible." bullshyt they've been putting in their platformers. What happened to the time you just had to play a level over 50 times if it was necessary for you to hone your skills for the rest of the game?

Games are so easy nowadays, which is fine in some cases, but Super Mario 3D world had me dead with that invincibility suit :dead:

I lose at the level 5 times and see a magical leaf box. I get the powerup and all of a sudden nothing can kill me. I'm like :wtf: did I just stumble upon some sort of secret. Then it happened again on another level :dead:

breh, the first time I fully understood what that white Tanooki suit was, I was in disbelief. :snoop:

I was born in 82 and damn started hanging heavy in the arcade around SF2 but on the real even the Nintendo games were hard I would die playing damn duck tales or back to the future.

Lol the hunger to complete a game? Shouldn't we be motivating kids to get out and play outside? Whatever happened to wiffleball?
That's the thing though, there used to be a balance....there were times when we went out to play and then times when it was like nah I'm on this NES or Genesis path if you wanna come kick it you're welcome to come though....bring some cherry clan and a quarter water too I'll hit you back with the 50 cents.

You never hit him back with that 50 neither....but the gaming made you forget all that :youngsabo:

What you nikkas know about leaving your Nintendo on overnight so that you wouldnt lose your spot because the game had NO saves and NO continues. I'll never forget I felt like killing my moms one time when she took off my OG nintendo when we left it on overnight because we had been trying to beat that OG TMNT game.

As soon as you mentioned....THAT game....I had a seizure and pissed myself.

That fukking game:to:

That game was hard as fukk for all the people in our crew when I was growing up. Them platforms in the forest stage and the final boss was :wow: in difficulty. I played Contra and I played Battletoads, and those games were :wow: in craziness.

That forest was like a suicide mission. One person always ended up dying on the platform part. But when we both made it, :blessed:

Yeah, and cheat codes were more guarded than the CIA's secrets back in the day. If you wanted to have them, you had to BUY strategy guides and read them there, without 100% guarantee

I remember those gamepro books with the cheat code section. It wasn't guaranteed that they would feature you're game in the code section.

The forest stage became a staple of how precise I become in jumping in gaming. I had yo do all that when I was 5 years old. Kids 12-13 today can't even beat a simple game anymore.
