So many people here don't know anything about politics and just say a bunch of shyt based on inaccurate/outdated information and/or shyt they heard from youtube morons.
a)Biden is not a failed President. Non-Trump Republicans think he's been pulled too far too the left by Progressives and Progressives think he's not progressive enough. In other words he's doing fine.
-American Rescue plan's was a big legislative package. The child tax credit was huge for working class families.
-The bi-partisan infrastructure bill getting passed was a big achievement. Both Obama and Trump tried to do it and failed for different reasons.
-Successful vaccine rollout across the United States.
-Withdrew troops from Afgan after a 20 year pointless war.
-Appointed more federal judges in his first year since Reagan. And a good portion of those judges come from public advocacy and public defender backgrounds.
Negatives that hurt Biden:
-Inflation, which wasn't caused by the Biden administration. But it doesn't matter because the President will get blame for things that may not be their fault simply for being in office at the time of the issues.
-13 Marines killed in the effort to withdraw Afgan.
-Supply Chain issues. Luckily Biden's administration has already improved the supply chain and the Wal-Mart CEO gave credit to them for doing so on live TV. Turning a negative into a positive.
-Covid still being an issue. This is a problem because he was partly elected to solve the issue. Yet it keeps coming back and there is nothing they can do about it. They've done all the vaccine promotion & education in the world but there's nothing you can do about people who refuse to take it. People have covid fatigue. People are tired of it.
-Covid Mandates. If people take a step out of the liberal bubble, they would see that this is not popular. More people are willing to be ok with vaccine mandates for hospital workers, but the policies put into place by mayors and governors are only hurting the party as a whole. The Governor of New York has been making everyone wear masks again in public places and it's gotten extreme pushback. Biden's own vaccine mandate via OSHA for companies over 100 workers is sure to go to the Supreme Court. The appeals court just ruled in favor of Biden.
-Voting rights. Manchin and Sinema's refusal to break the fillbuster on voting rights to pass legislation, meanwhile GOP state officials have been going around state to state passing state voting restriction laws with just majority votes.
All in all, if I had to give Biden a grade for the year, I'd probably give him a C+. That's fair.
Now as far as Joe Manchin. Biden has no control over Manchin and he don't have much control over Sinema either. Manchin is in a state that Trump won by like 30, 40%. Which means the more Manchin goes against the Democratic agena and Biden, the more it benefits Manchin politically. No Democrat could beat Manchin in a primary and if Manchin lost his seat, it would be to the most extreme MAGA Republican. They cannot threaten to cut Manchin off financially because Manchin raises a shyt ton of money from the coal industry and from top Republican donors to oppose Democrats.
The suggestion that Trump would have "bullied his way to victory" is false because we seen what happened when Trump & GOP tried to repeal Obamacare. John McCain and a few female GOP Senators said no and the repeal failed.
Progressives were proven right about this whole process. They wanted the infrastructure bill held up and passed at the same time as the BBB bill (terrible name) because they correctly believed if the infrastructure bill was passed before the BBB was passed, they would lose power over the situation and Joe Manchin would end up killing BBB. They ended up being right as of now. Moderates and Pelosi's argument was that Democrats needed a win to brag/campaign on and some momentum considering how they almost lost the New Jersey Governor's race and lost the Virginia's Governor's race. So Pelosi deebo'd progressives into getting the infrastructure bill passed.
Manchin killing this bill does ratfukk Democrats something fierce. Manchin is going to personally benefit from doing this while the rest of the Democratic party is going to get destroyed in the midterms. Republicans will easily win back the House of Representatives and they may win back the Senate too. This means Biden will not pass anything significant through Congress for the rest of his term. His legislation agenda is done and 2024 is in serious doubt.
If McConnell is majority leader in the Senate, he will make sure Biden is not able to appoint anyone to the Supreme Court and he will stop judges (or slow track them) from being approved in the federal benches.
