Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom

Just saw this today and left . Movie wasn't bad, but I felt it could have been much more intense based on the situation. I felt for Mandela in the movie, but it wasn't with the same intensity that 12 years had. Idris and Naomie both were good in their roles. Thoughts?

Really? I felt the exact opposite. 12 years a slave was just him being a slave after a while. I stopped feeling the struggle over time. I liked it but not as much as Mandela. I think Mandela had a way better unfolding of the story even if it was a bit rushed at the end. Mandela almost tried to cover too much and ended up skimming through.

The violence vs non violence movements could have been a movie on its own. The director did a great job showing the soul and lifestyle of the people though and the acting was really good. I appreciate how they tried to cover the good and bad (infidelities, ANC jealousy, black on black, etc.)

At the end of the day I feel more moved to action/uplifted by Mandela vs 12 years a slave so I feel that's the better movie.

Maybe that is it. Some things I would of liked them to go into more detail, but only so much can be done in a 2-3 hour movie.
