Mato Slave Volume 4

It was funny at the beginning of the volume where you see a hint of jealously from Kyouka. Showing that there is more then a work relationship between her and Yuuki. Also we get to see Nei and Shushua use Yuuki. Basically with Nei she get hightended senses similiar to Nei's Clavorance. Meanwhile with Shushu his strength is immensely increased by mobility is god awful. The interesting side is that while rider has to give Yuuki a reward, it saps Kyouka of her strength. Obviously with Nei they will make sure the reward is wholesome. Ironically for Shushu her uses doesn't seem much help.

We got an insight on Nei in this volume. Basically she lost her family in Mato and similar to Yuuki is trying to look for them. Its nice that she still is able to go to school and do stuff that a normal kid does. That is something I wouldn't expect. She really looks up to Yuuki in a way that makes her interactions with Yuuki really wholesome. On the other hand we get a flashback with Yuuki and his siter Aoba. She def was the bossy obsessive type, but its clear that she genuinely cares for Yuuki despite of that. Which leads to her plan with kidnapping or in her terms rescuing Yuuki.

Aboa and the other 2 are part human and part monster basicallly. But given their personality its clear that feel like humans. They seem to really resent the demon force though. It could be very likely they could be the reason why they are no longer fully human. But it begs the question if they are associated with the other trio led by Shikoku. 7th and 6th squads are working together to rescue Yuuki makes for an interesting rewatch in the next volume.

Another week another insane chapter from this series.

Man it was nice to see Rin and Mai each able to let go of their regrets after both were tied down for so long . Mai not being able to apologize for not considering Rin's situation. Rin feeling responsible for Mai's death.

So author being creative in order to get Yayoi-chan back to speed. Basically Bossamura-sama being a different form feels it wasn't revealed in its true form. Thats actually fukking scary . But that ring is fukking OP if I am understanding it correctly. But the priest is right that it can't be used on another person.

But interesting enough unless I am missing something. Is Tama-chan related to Ai-chan? It does make why he is helping out pretty genuine. We finally getting to the showdown.

Mato Slave Vol 5

Author really doing a good job at making sure that the fanservice never negatively affects the plot when it needs to be taken seirous. One of big strength of this volume is that it had you rooting for Aboa-chan and her crew to some degree because Yuuki losing his sister would hurt alot.

They really nailed the tragic backstory of Aboa-chan and her trios backstory. So basically they didn't have the luxary like Yuuki to have someone like Kyuouka save him and be in a place for care. Taking a Peach can have a massive side effect which seems to be unrecorded. Naon and Koko were basically research gueina pigs because of it.. Aboa had a better outcome but barely if any. So basically something is rotten in the defense corps. Unfortunately those that experience trauma like that have a hard time trusting those underneath those they deemed corrupt. Regarding the fighhts each was actually really well done.

First was Shushu & Sahara vs Koko. At first glance this matchup heavily favors Koko. But using Shushu and her ability to use Paradigm shift was clever. Normally being small is a liability but here being shot inside Kuma and then enlarging herself suffers a might blow on both of them. Her healing properties barely kept her in it till she had to retreat. Meanwhile we had the Azuma sisters going against Naon. Despite being able to rewind time they were unable to get her location. Therefore Himari used full burst to force a situation where they could find her then then Yachiho would rewind time and repeat and knock Naon out.

The battle with Kyouka & Tenka against Aboa was much more in Tenka's favor for most of the match. While Kyouka was left to take care of Unihorn. But it force forced a situation where Tenka could take out Aboa and unlike the other girls she was able to kill her. In a surprise twist she holds back showing that her feels for Yuuki are more geunine then just as a toy. Aboa fires back leaving her unconciouss, but gives her a higher impression of her. Gotta say the way they wrote this fights was efficent and pretty smart. Showcasing growth. Shushu with teamwork. Himari adapting to match her sister. For Tenka showing she has a big emotional growth since Yuuki came.

Before the fight can end between Kyouka and Aboa, what appears the villains of this series come crashing the party. Call Aoba and her own crew half baked really show their is no association between the two. Calling themselves the 8 thunder gods. Feels like this is party of the series where the plot is slowly coming together.

Shangri-La-Frontier Volume 8

Sunraku reaction when his strategy to farm the Crystral Scorpins got me . Relatable feeling for a gamer you got a great strat to farm and the devs patch it right away. Well he lives up to his reputation in figuring out a new strat using the game's physics engine which is impressive

But then he gets an enounter with a Golden Scorpion which looks like a boss of sorts. But it killing the all the other crystal scorpions was something I wasn't expecting. It essentially has everything everything the crystal scorpions plus it has a fukking nasty range attack and can heal its self regeneratively. Really making Sunraku sweat. When the crystal scorpions came back he thought he could get them to kill the Golden one, but it aint that easy.

Sunraku slowly bit by bit takes it down. Gotta give him credit soloing it byhimself is taking. Given the fact he was by himself honestly Golden Scorpion for him was a difficulty that was on the level of Wethermond. Tho he even knows that without inventoria he couldn't have been able to beat him. Tho I love how salty he gets when he can't use the armor from the inventoria.

Dude got so triggered he to play a different game I fukk with it. Honestly out of all the trash games he playes Nephilim Hollow is less a buggy mess and more so just insanely difficult and mentally tasking. Of course the #1 player of Rust may be undefeated but her only tie was against Sunraku. So she really wants payback .While the other trash games should how well Sunraku is at adapting this one is showing how creative he can be. These two things really come in clutch for him when he plays SLF.

Heard really good things about this manga. Good start with volume 1. The main story is basically a witch hunt looking for the one that cursed Guideau. 1st two chapters did a great job at setting the tone how fukked up witches really are and how manipulative they can be as well. Also seeing Guideau's true form is very terrifying.

3rd chapter did a good job at showcasing their job is not to hunt witches. Since our leads work for the order of Magical Ressonance it leads them to solve cases that have to do with magic. These mundane tasks is something the calm demenaner of Ashaf can handle. I do like this as it gives a wide scope of who they work for and that magic is more then a tool for witches to pull of with their bullshyt.

Final chapter of the volume had our leads working with Miss Haines. Who is a cop working to hunt down a witch. I considered that she is maybe the witch, but that seems less likely. She is constantly giving clues and making sure to kill the police one by one. Very curious if this is the case then Miss Haines being a witch what does something like her have to do to get the wrath of a witch.

So surprised they come across the witch that cursed Ellie. But damn she really showed no remorse for the stuff she has done. But she mentions her mother. This kid witch cursing everything without any remorse feels like a small scale of the actual problem.

I really liked how Marie exhibited self control here knowing that this would directly affect Riaha. But honestly no surprise that would negatively affect her. Still obviously messed up melting the Gjins. Wonder what Riaha is going to do since he recognizes Tohru pull back or will he push on with Marie?

Well we getting more and more so signs that this kingdom is messed up. Granted the king gave off so many red flags. These members of the heroes party gave up their lives for the kingdom and the thanks they get for their work. Knowing this information I am actually really interesting what their play is next.

Witch & The Beast 2

Damn this is some good stuff . World building and writing is very good so far,

Finishing up the arc with the witch hunt. And the twist who was behind it was actually was Miss Haines sons who were behind it in a cruel fate. So rather then a witch being behind it these kids were using grimoires. And the deaths were because they tapped into their magic. It makes the reason why Miss Haines was always left unharmed. The two boys seem to have developed a mother complex for her. For some reason her partner wasn't to their liking or they were jealous. I'm happy see realized that these boys made a terrible mistake and the best solution was to put them out of their misery. Sad moment but at the very least she is able to move forward from this.

Main arc in this volume surrounded the undead and necromancy where Ashaf recommends the necromancer Phanora and her assistant Johan. It seems like necromancy is something that isn't complete taboo in this series, but it is very controversial. Well beyond Phanora explains in great detail how necromancy opperates on the undead. They have basically Auto, semi-auto and manual modes. Pretty cool to have that level of detail. Honestly necromancy in the wrong hands is a scary thing to think which is what we get in this arc. Phanora got an abnormal amount of undead to arrive at their location clearly indicating someone is clearly stirring up shyt.

Phanora and Johan find the source of the undead and well get ambused. What I really like at this point was that Phanora treats Ashaf almost like a slave relationship for whom she gives her physical labor to her. On the other spectrum the officer had to see that his dead fiancé back as an undead. You can only imagine the trauma from it. To make matters even worse the necromancer they encounter is purely doing so to bring back his dead wife in the most beautiful body. And is using these other girls as test subjects truly sickening.

Phanora also goes about explaining how once someone dies their sould waits for reincarnation. But necromancy interrupts that reincarnation. So if one were to forceibly revive someone successfully with necromancy they no longer can enter that cycle. Once they are dead for a 2nd time they enter the void and it seems quite evident that they depend on necromancy as they will never be reincarnated again as at that point they fall in danger of falling in the void. Making this villain in this arc even more vile.

Well Phanora has an ace in her pocket that even I didn't consider. She is a witch. It does question that it seems like Ashaf would know of this. Consider how the previous volumes delegated how witches are these irredeemable women. Having one here that is actually on the side of justice is surprising. The fact that she ensures the officers safety shows unlike the witch in the first arc she isn't a disgusting individual. The fact she has an army of undead the consented to her called her death knights is a scary pocket for her. And well it was a simple victory for her.

For an unsurprising twist Johan is an undead. But a special undead. While his capabities is beyond a normal undead since he pratically seems alive and human. Phanora clearly has grown an attachment towards him. Phanora is clearly a witch you don't want to get on the wrong side of. Not only does she kill him, but she revives him as undead. Ironic he gave no second thoughts of those whom he forcibly revived and put them in danger of falling in the void. But now it is him in that situation it makes it the even more ironic. She truly intends for him to suffer after ruining the souls of these victims . The one silver lining is that the officer now has the option to live with his fiancé. I expect he would want to be an undead when the time comes so they will stay together forever after all.

The ending bit of the volume basically previews what is going to happen next. Basically there seems to be more certain that they found a witch, but the Paladian Corps which works to hunt down witches will make it a free for all. Which makes things even more interesting

Prob the biggest issue with the rushed ending is that Jikka's potential as an antagonist was through the roof and not using that is prob my main disappointment.

Still admittedly its still a good ending, but it was very safe type of ending. Honestly with so many Shonens these days overstaying their welcome its nice to have one that has a nice concise conclusion. Tho it's quite evident the manga could have been special tho without question.

but they had some great ascetic choices, quality AoT-like themes, etc - and instead bush the buddhist stuff almost immediately, drive hard into this discount nen power system, and drop some amazing designs for eco friendly arrancar

its just disappointing, but i'll likely finish it unless it goes full fire force

Know what the longer this goes on the more tragic Ai's character is. Poor girl was cursed her whole life where even the time she lives she is unable to enjoy. Then hearing her hopes and dreams was man . Yayoi-chan giving her that promise to look forward to.

Honestly, the rushed ending felt similar to Yu Yu Hakusho for me...where I think it's a disappointing ending, but not so bad that it ruins the whole thing. There's just a crazy amount of "you coulda done all of this" skipped over.

Those are my two biggest "wish it woulda kept going" endings in manga...those and Gamaran, but nobody liked Gamaran enough to care besides me
