anytime you battle or do anything SHOWMANSHIP matters man and how you present it....scott was there doing the keys and all..fresh shoulda been focused on that- once you agree to something you gotta do it right....hell even scotts audio was sounding cleaner

i was feelin bad for my boy mannie honestly
fukk that. Dude had pre prepared skits for Scott Storch saying this exact same shyt. Now he tryna act like he didn’t know the rules n all that shyt? Come on. nikkas is acting like bytches. Bottom line. I don’t feel bad for him AT ALL. And I think Mannie is a BETTER hip hop producer than Scott.

Full disclosure: I didn't hear the battle, and I haven't listened to any of these battles...

...and the reason is because of chit like this.

These are hit contests, and not really "who has the better beat by round" or whatever.
That being said, the outcomes are sort of predictable AND your co-producers getting credit
kinda muddies the waters.

For example, dude in here said he shoulda been matched with someone like Rick Rock.
Rick Rock is one of my favorite producers of the modern era but (1) I know his
main style is an acquired taste that many don't rock with (2), his secondary style
is mainstream and while not as mind-blowing, has made some major hits. But, he has
co-produced some CLASSICS...

If Rick Rock was in a battle and he started playing the beat to "Ambitionz Az A Ridah",
that would CRUSH almost anything else the other person would play - but a lot of folk
would stand up like "W-w-wait, I thought Daz made that beat!!" That's the problem with this chit here.

Sidebar: and btw...imo, this is in the same realm as MCs with ghostwriters, too.
In a battle, it's supposed to be MC vs. MC....but if one MC has other MCs writing for him
that's fugazi.

People who can't read credits and have no understanding of music think Storch produced "Still Dre". Again, Dre and Mel Man are credited as producers. Camara, like Storch played keys on the song (but ignorant people who always credit Storch NEVER give him credit), and there's strings on the song, which Storch didn't do.

Only on The Coli, would "Cry Me A River" be a low light. That is an all time classic song that artists have sampled to this day. Song basically gavenlife to Justin's solo career, but anyone with ears knows that is a Timbaland beat that Storch played on.
so all that to say scott storch produced the most notable and prominent part of the beat that most people identify with to this day

ask scott storch to play the keys to still dre and it's immediately identifiable, you cant do that with any other part of the song

bro cry me a river holds minimal weight in the black community especially over the anthems that mannie fresh was playing, he could have played clap back by ja rule or some shyt instead of that and the consensus would still be that scott scorched him

This.

And the only one of those that was a real beat battle is this one:

^^^ original beats that they prepared for an IG battle against each other. No vocals outside of samples and snippets.

Don't try to pull that Black people don't rock with it card because it doesn't fly. That was one of the song that crossed Justin over to us. I remember him performing that song at Soul Train Awards. Before that song, he was looked at as the lead singer if a boy band and when he dropped his solo debut song, he was written off as a MJ wannabe. "Cry Me A River" changed all that.

the song must really mean a lot to you and hold a lot of weight in a battle in your opinion but......

like I said it was one of the worst songs he played and he could have played clap back by ja rule or some shyt instead of that and the consensus would still be that scott scorched him

On the same token, it being the worst song is your opinion.

I like how people say Scott “only did the keys” for Still Dre, as if that isn’t the main recognizable part of the beat. It ain’t like he just threw a random drum kick in there. In no universe did Manny win this battle. No shade

nikkas y’all getting the wrong idea about this whole shyt and basically sucking all the fun out of it. The battle is to let people know the shyt u contributed to in this game. It’s not a “beat battle”. If that was the case. There would be no fukkin T Pain vs Lil Jon. And it ain’t just about the hits u got over the other person. Swizz said himself. It’s about the WAY u present ur shyt. It’s a round for round thing. And if u don’t counter correctly. U lose the round.

This ain’t in the same realm of MC’s with ghostwriters because this ain’t a “beat battle” or an “emcee battle”. shyt. Ya man Dre would be disqualified from shyt if we tryna make the “make all ur own beats” a requirement.

The keys is ONE one of the most recognizable parts of the beat and again, Storch wasn't the only one on keys.
