Storch won because because he had bigger, more recognizable songs than Mannie. After Mannie exhausted the obvious CMR classics, it was a wrap. Even when you look at it from a cultural perspective, songs like "Lean Back" and "Make It Rain" were cultural. I don't think Storch should have played R&B and Pop hits though knowing Mannie doesn't have anything to counter those even though he worked with Teenie Marie.

Turning this shyt into something that it’s not. Swizz is even getting aggravated with it. nikkas tryna make this a South vs East n all kinda shyt and Swizz keep shutting that shyt down. Full disclosure: I didn't hear the battle, and I haven't listened to any of these battles...




...and the reason is because of chit like this.

These are hit contests, and not really "who has the better beat by round" or whatever.
That being said, the outcomes are sort of predictable AND your co-producers getting credit
kinda muddies the waters.



For example, dude in here said he shoulda been matched with someone like Rick Rock.
Rick Rock is one of my favorite producers of the modern era but (1) I know his
main style is an acquired taste that many don't rock with (2), his secondary style
is mainstream and while not as mind-blowing, has made some major hits. But, he has
co-produced some CLASSICS...

If Rick Rock was in a battle and he started playing the beat to "Ambitionz Az A Ridah",
that would CRUSH almost anything else the other person would play - but a lot of folk
would stand up like "W-w-wait, I thought Daz made that beat!!" That's the problem with this chit here.

Sidebar: and btw...imo, this is in the same realm as MCs with ghostwriters, too.
In a battle, it's supposed to be MC vs. MC....but if one MC has other MCs writing for him

Scott while crucial, he needs a foundation to work upon before improving it. Mannie did it all.

If they only played beats they fully produced or 90% produced like your typical beat battle. Then things would have appeared different.

Mannie is better drum programmer than storch. And that's where it ends. Storch is a much better as an overall producer. There are only a handful of producers that manage to have hits and relevance spanning 20+ years in the game. Guys like storch, timbo, pharrell, swizz, just blaze etc are on another level.
