Nah, there was at least a little substance with Bad Boy and Rocafella.

Fresh knows what he's talking about.

Fresh produced for them so his opinion > mine all day

But if you listened with your own two ears there wasn't much of a difference outside that label coining the phrase from a song that went global

Not to mention Baby Gangster (BG) the toughest nikka in the group made the song

If you go through his discography I would laugh if you tried to define it by that record

Maybe my memory is failing me because I don't revisit any Cash Money material outside of a couple joints on 400 degrees, but I can't recall any song of theirs with even a little substance too it.

Right but if you actually listened to their music it was a mix bag

Only someone who isn't familiar with them would define them by the term they coined which went mainstream

Bird was always on that overzealous flossing gimmick.. as you can see he still is but the boy boys were "gangster rappers"

Not saying you're white but it comes across very "CACish"

well I have a theory that "CAC's" use the term "CAC" on here as to not come across or be exposed as non-black...but that's for another discussion :coffee:

let's keep in mind that we're in an article using Mannie Fresh's own words

so whatever emotions or feelings you get from what I said, my point of reference is straight from the horses mouth

I wasn't the biggest cash money fan, I bought juveniles 400 degreez and the hoy boyz album and that was it.

bottom line is that some of their biggest crossover and radio hits were about $$$$ though. this is a fact. :hubie:

if anything, Juvenile had the biggest records that WEREN'T about $$$$. he was just one dude though.

:patrice:several of you cats have said this and I do get it

but y'all do realize that they added the term bling bling to the american lexicon right?

they redefined the word "bling" and it's even in the dictionary as such now

Definition of BLING

i mean that's something fellas :francis:
That's true but bling bling doesn't define early Cash Money music

They had way more substance in their music, flossing was just a part of that...but it wasn't the main part

Cashmoney really did take the Blinging and Stunting to new heights. The even created names for it.

Before "Get your roll on" never saw a video with just cars and stunting.

Those Big Tymer album was mostly about stunting, "platinum football fields" and all kinds are crazy talk. It was fun music, but most of rap started feeling the need to Bling and Stunt also.
