I've mentioned this several times in threads about fast food workers being replaced by machines for asking for $15 per hour. One, those machines have been in development since minimum wage was $5.15 an hour and they will replace those low skilled workers whether they make the current $7.25 or $15. Two, the Coli middle class and STEM workers feel as if their skillset can never be replaced by technology because their job is highly technical and complex. So was operating a steam locomotive. I'm sure the men working on the railroads in the 20s could never imagine five and six man train crews going down to two and now railroads are lobbying for ONE MAN CREWS. The death of the steam locomotive allowed for a HUGE reduction in demand for highly skilled labor across a wide variety of railroad related fields. These were decent to high paying jobs wiped out by technology people couldn't see coming 20-30 years down the line. It's not only low skilled labor you can look down on that will be affected.
